Presumably the only good thing about contracts is that you can get a fee from whoever wants to sign your players.

If you increase the salary cap the game cannot stand it and it would be 1 team domination again. We don't want that time to help clubs that want Rugby League likes of Leigh Oldham Swinton York Rochdale.

the RFL had reduced the amount to Championship clubs to 90,000 from 100,000 ,because the money came from the t.v. rights from sky, and sky next season have washed their hands of Championship rugby league, I think that the clubs in super league may have had a hand in the reduction somewhere. but the R.F.l. have enough money to give more assistance to Championship clubs but they dont want to help, Leigh,Barrow,Oldham,Featherstone,Halifax,Swinton etc etc only the johnny come latelys like Crusaders, and Gateshead,

At the play off games it had declined a bit by home supporters but not by Saints supporters, especially when Sam was defending at the North Stand end.

JOEL Tomkins is the target of a shock switch to rugby union.

English giants Saracens – coached by Warriors legend Andy Farrell – are preparing a lucrative offer for the Warriors centre after identifying him as the next league star who could make an impact on the 15-a-side game.

It is unclear whether Tomkins wants to switch codes. But if the academy-product decides to leave, Sarries would almost certainly have to pay a fee – earlier this season Tomkins signed a new five-year deal which runs until the end of 2015.

The interest from union emerged just three weeks after Tomkins and his younger brother Sam joined top management company James Grant in a move which also saw their Wigan-based agent, Andy Clarke, land a consultancy role with the firm.

England RU and ex-Warriors star Chris Ashton – another of Clarke’s clients – also linked-up with James Grant.

Tomkins is a close friend of Ashton – they were class-mates at St John Fisher High and progressed through the Warriors ranks together – and has seen how his profile and income have rocketed since he left Wigan to switch codes.

Rumours that both the Tomkins brothers were on union’s radar have rumbled for weeks. Sam was even named in a fictitious England 2015 World Cup team in the Sunday Times yesterday.

Why would an RU team want a fast poweful centre? as soon as the ball gets to the stand off its booted into the stands.

Rugby League will survive because it is by far the better spectator sport, but in what guise?

In his short spell at Wigan, he was seen by many supporters as being on the selfish side and a glory hunter.

As for the great game of rugby union, look outside the top two divisions and you will find that their smaller club's are struggling like those in rugby league. Why do think it is that they allow rugby league clubs to rent their grounds for games?

Rugby League will also never get the publicity like Union because the media is controlled by the 'old school tie' who went to schools where 'Rugger is the game. You only have to look at the BBC who in a recent episode of the television programme 'Waterloo Road' had kids playing Union in a school which is supposed to be set in the traditional League town of Rochdale where to my understanding the schools mainly play League. Even the non Rugby town of nearby Chorley play League in the schools.

Disagree with you about O'loughlin,he was,and still is one of the top tacklers in the game,shows a decent turn of pace,and a very good ball distributor,coz he's not in the "Tomkins or Leuluai" position he dosnt get ALL the recognition he should

O'Loughlin is an exceptional player who it seems has been playing with an injury for a while,I agree with Kenny

O'Loughlin is one of the best players in Rugby League and a credit to the Wigan club!
