I think the salary cap needs adjusting,or everyone with talent will go!
Unfortunately contracts mean nowt to sportsmen these days

Presumably the only good thing about contracts is that you can get a fee from whoever wants to sign your players.

Replied: 7th Oct 2011 at 16:21

If you increase the salary cap the game cannot stand it and it would be 1 team domination again. We don't want that time to help clubs that want Rugby League likes of Leigh Oldham Swinton York Rochdale.

Farrie you want to stop listening to the gossip in Sams; there is a salary cap in RU as well

That said it would take a lot less than 2 million to prise them away

Contracts count for NOTHING in sport today – if a player wants to go, he goes!

Remember Ferguson saying Ronaldo was going nowhere?

the RFL had reduced the amount to Championship clubs to 90,000 from 100,000 ,because the money came from the t.v. rights from sky, and sky next season have washed their hands of Championship rugby league, I think that the clubs in super league may have had a hand in the reduction somewhere. but the R.F.l. have enough money to give more assistance to Championship clubs but they dont want to help, Leigh,Barrow,Oldham,Featherstone,Halifax,Swinton etc etc only the johnny come latelys like Crusaders, and Gateshead,

They only have to look at Chris Ashton this last few weeks. Performing on the world stage. League is a better game but that doesn't pay the bills when your career is over.

When all the doggy noises started aginst Joel Monaghan over his incident with a dog, the Warrington fans countered with dog chants of their own and still do.

No different then some of the Wigan fans doing the same kind of thing to Sam who justs regards it as pantomine booing and is not offended by it.

It's the idiotic element at Leeds that needs sorting out.

The Leed's supporters, but as you mention it, the RFL as well.

Lewis, Wood and Cummings should all be sacked for the mess they have made of our game.

As Lewis is from down south, it makes you wonder if he is a Trojan Horse!

ruddy duck because warrington did it doesnt mean its working at wigan and i dont think hes treating it as pantomine booing lets face it the lad cant come out and say he doesnt like it most poeple saw his face when they came onto the pitch at the homecoming and he lifted the cup up to the fans and they started booing he then put the cup down and turned away we all said that was disgusting you can say until your blue in the face that he loves it but most fans say its gone on long enough maybe at first he saw it as a laugh but some poeple dont know when to stop

saintpat.

At the play off games it had declined a bit by home supporters but not by Saints supporters, especially when Sam was defending at the North Stand end.

I agree with you, its time it was ended, but will it by opposing supporters.

I think not, especially at Leeds.

you could be 'half-right' Farrie if this press release is to be believed

Monday 10 October 2011 10:20

JOEL Tomkins is the target of a shock switch to rugby union.

English giants Saracens – coached by Warriors legend Andy Farrell – are preparing a lucrative offer for the Warriors centre after identifying him as the next league star who could make an impact on the 15-a-side game.

It is unclear whether Tomkins wants to switch codes. But if the academy-product decides to leave, Sarries would almost certainly have to pay a fee – earlier this season Tomkins signed a new five-year deal which runs until the end of 2015.

The interest from union emerged just three weeks after Tomkins and his younger brother Sam joined top management company James Grant in a move which also saw their Wigan-based agent, Andy Clarke, land a consultancy role with the firm.

England RU and ex-Warriors star Chris Ashton – another of Clarke’s clients – also linked-up with James Grant.

Tomkins is a close friend of Ashton – they were class-mates at St John Fisher High and progressed through the Warriors ranks together – and has seen how his profile and income have rocketed since he left Wigan to switch codes.

Rumours that both the Tomkins brothers were on union’s radar have rumbled for weeks. Sam was even named in a fictitious England 2015 World Cup team in the Sunday Times yesterday.

Plenty of other good young players coming through the Academy, so why worry?

As long as the Warriors get a big compensation deal and transfer fee, let him go.

No player is bigger then the club!

There are two reasons why the top prospects will abandon rugby league, money and the international stage.

I fear for the forthcoming ‘Four Nations’ at what crowds it will draw especially the double header at Wembley on bonfire day – what a cock up!

Rugby League will survive because it is by far the better spectator sport, but in what guise?

But the RFU, with millions behind them, will after the debacle down under be drawing up an action plan for the next World Cup in 2015 which is being held here in England
That plan will no doubt involve the recruitment of any outstanding rugby league talent

Difficult times lie ahead for the ‘greatest sport’ – does Rugby League have the strong leadership in place to take it through the storm?

Ashton would never be still at Wigan as he set his stall out to use the Warriors as a showcase for himself to get into Union.

Could hardly make a name for himself at Orrell, Wigan or Aspull rugby union clubs could he?

In his short spell at Wigan, he was seen by many supporters as being on the selfish side and a glory hunter.

As for the great game of rugby union, look outside the top two divisions and you will find that their smaller club's are struggling like those in rugby league. Why do think it is that they allow rugby league clubs to rent their grounds for games?

Wigvet

Rugby League will also never get the publicity like Union because the media is controlled by the 'old school tie' who went to schools where 'Rugger is the game. You only have to look at the BBC who in a recent episode of the television programme 'Waterloo Road' had kids playing Union in a school which is supposed to be set in the traditional League town of Rochdale where to my understanding the schools mainly play League. Even the non Rugby town of nearby Chorley play League in the schools.

Disagree with you about O'loughlin,he was,and still is one of the top tacklers in the game, shows a decent turn of pace, and a very good ball distributor, coz he's not in the "Tomkins or Leuluai" position he dosnt get ALL the recognition he should
