Wembley train?

Started by: rio caroni (5077)

Anybody know what happened to the Special Train going down to Wembley yesterday. They announced over the loud speaker in the stadium that there had been problems but the return journey would leave as scheduled?

apparently the guard was invloved in an accident and a replacement was not available - the train did leave later empty to bring the fans back

Hope we have a few more hollow victories in front of nearly 80,000 fans. Not to bad for a parochial sport

and as regards the train - this is the latest....

'An investigation into this is underway and I expect to hear back from the train company sometime tomorrow and we will then contact all fans who had booked the train to give a full explanation etc. In no way do Wigan Warriors want fans to suffer and we will be taking all possible action with the charter company who were paid to provide the service well before the event.

We will contact you again soon with information and please accept our apologies for all the issues of Saturday.

It was a shambles at Wigan station. An announcer came on the tannoy to say the Wigan Supporters train had been cancelled and they would have to get on the next train to Crewe and make their own way to London. Well when the train came in it was like one of those trains in India where they squeeze them all in.

Then it was a shambles at Wembley Station coming home. There were about 500 people outside Wembley Station all pushing forward at times. Apparently they were still on the Coach park 2 hours after the match. How these people are going to organise an Olympic Games is beyond me.
