Used to enjoy the Prince of Teck & Kings Head in Earls Court – full of benches, wenches, atmosphere & music but called this year on a visit and what let down! – new polished floors, updated furniture and not a plastic Kangaroo in sight!
could nevr beat the Cock Tavern Sunday morning/afternoon with Colin the lanlord squeezing everyone in and various assortment of underwear thrown on the light fittings
happy days!

Its the Dolphin pub for me. Opposite Kings Cross/St Pancras station through an alleyway and your there. Ive been going in there 20 odd years and on a Wembley rugby weekend Sunday its always heaving with Wiganers. Some decent acoustic music is always on the menu. All off the cuff mind you I can't think of the guys name who plays mandolin and guitar there Sunday dinner but, he gets em in Good un he is. He is a Wigan lad More often than not a banjo player turns up and joins in. Dont know his name either but Ive heard Mumford and Son are after recruiting him if he can stay sober

St James tavern, Sunday dinner time, or Summersales coffee house near Euston. St Joseph's catholic club near the stadium is good before the match, and it's not a rip off.

Tuddy , think you mean Somerstown Coffee House, eh-- not far from the Cock Tavern-- was good pub but I think its been shut for while now, more's the pity. Used to be The Victoria(?) in the same street but that went the same way.
I've not been down that London for a few months but I'm told there's a new bar, selling decent ale right outside Euston where the monuments are nxt to the road,''The Euston Tap.''
Granada, Think I saw you in the Dolphin last year . Hope I'll be in there meself at some point pal.
Plan B should be theere too, suppin' foot-wash..
Another good 'un , near the Dolphin called The Boot

You might be right pisolivadi, it was a couple of streets away from Euston, landlord was an Irish man, locked us in one year when we went down on Thursday, to get an early start.

1934 grandada, were you with us the year that Glen intoduced them two American air force officers to draught Guinness?
Replied: 20th Aug 2011 at 18:25
I certainly was Tuddy 1984 Norfolk Towers Hotel in Paddington.
I remember one of them going to the bar and saying to the barmaid "I'll have a pint of them there bitters" in an American accent of course. We had a good crew that year Ronnie and Alan Dootson, Tez, Donny, Carpet, Alan Wright,Andy from Bradford, UTT etc. If I recall rightly I think Wrighty got bitten all over by the fleas in his bedroom.

Yeh, the two American lads were called Butch and Ollie, they looked more like Stan and Ollie when they'd finished drinking with Glen.
Still have'nt figured out who you are.

We used to catch the tube early and go to past Wembley and get off at either Kingsbury or Queensbury (can't remember which) and go in the Green Man. On the way back we weren't fighting against the crowds.

Broady, think that would be Queensbury,Prince of Wales is the pub outside Kingsbury, used to frequent the Prince when Wigan were down there and also M.U.F.C.Lot easier than coming from central London and only a couple of minutes away from Wembers

UTT why don't ya forget that diet this weekend and get down the Smoke with us?
Its an anniversary of sorts.....20 years after you were more than diplomatic with the infamous Forest fan at the Dolphin and them Warrington idiots were less than friendly to you at Baker St tube opposite The Globe.
When was that , 90 or 91?
Any way, Glenn and Granada said they'd stand your ale if you're pink lint.
Comin'?

Tuddy – St. James Tavern Sunday dinner!
Happy memories with the ‘Ball & Boot’ boys in the 70s/80s there on our annual trip to Wembley irrespective of who was playing in the final – great sing a long but in those days we were thrown out on the street at 3pm, last orders!
And then in later years we ‘discovered’ the Cock Tavern in Euston – nothing fancy but always incredible packed for the Sunday disco from very early doors
Remember a gang of us knocking on the locked door at 10.30am one wet Sunday morning and the landlord Colin opening the door slightly and abruptly saying ‘you can’t come in’!
Mate said ‘why, are you not open yet?’
Colin, opened the door a bit wider and exclaimed, ‘No.....I’m full’ -and it was, the place was absolutely bouncing from ‘early doors’
Then big Malc Dainty strolled out of the pub, a bit worse for wear, took a puff on his fag and exclaimed.....’’there’s room for three more’’ - Happy Days!

"Mr T,"?
Spot on Tuddy. How did you suss me out
Granada is chomping at the bit here Tuddy. Im off with Glenn in the morning for our annual "kidney and liver basher" in the capital! We have a spare bed available if you fancy coming down on the Saturday. Im serious. It was the same price for a single or twin room so I booked Pisolivadi in a twin room. Hence the spare bed. Im going to be a friend of the stars tomorrow! I kid you not! We are meeting a friend of mine from Hertford whom I met on holiday. His dad was in the same band as Rod Stewart. But Rod the mod was launched out of the band as Joe Meek the producer did not like him. The rest is history. Then we are all heading to Chiswick at the invitation of a former Wigan legend (SE) for a few scoops

wigvet, It was the 80s when I used to go to St James's,must have been in there the same time as yourself. At closing time we went on to the coffee house at Euston for a few pints then train back to Wigan and a night round the town centre. Good job it was always bank holiday on the Monday!

grandada,- Elementary dear boy elementary. Thanks for the invite but I've made arrangements for Saturday. So your mixing with the rich and famous now eh? Will you be taking Rod to the Hen Hole? I think the last time I saw you was when you and Glen hitched a ride back to Wigan on our coach the day after the 2004 final in Cardiff, did'nt you spend the Saturday night playing bingo in the steel workers social club in Ponticockileeky or somewhere?
