A nice afternoon out at the DW.

Plenty of distractions with the rugby match and the charity shield on tv,but I enjoyed the Latics match against Villareal at the DW today.

Saw the highlights on Sky, looked like there where many distractions. tom Wigan won 1-0 Moses scored

After a cagey start with a few tackles going in,Latics grew into the game and probably at half time may have deserved the lead.
McCarthy got a knock and went off,but I thought the midfielders they brought on in the second half played very well and probably finished stronger.
Same old story,created lots of chances and missed them!
Victor Moses was great,really good to watch
I didn't see the Everton match so I wouldn't know ,they are triers though,that's for sure!

lopez,who played alongside caldwell was outstanding

Yes Lopez looks very good on the ball and played very well,and the french trialist Nouha Dicko looked a lively prospect!
The disappointment once again was Gomez,who apart from hitting a dead ball well is far too slow for the premier league.
I know Ben Watson played well at the end of last season,but I would look at replacing him with a quicker model

don't mind watson fossil be better if he could improve on his taking of corners,gomez is to lightweigh he goes down at the slightest contact, lopez he may be a bit lightweight for a central defender in the prem but very useful as cover for boyce at right back,thought stam looked pretty sharp when he came on
