A poor substitute for a real game of RUGBY. I remember a few years ago I was watching Soccer AM one Saturday morning and Helen kept interrupting saying England were playing Australia in a Yawnion cup final. Apparently England won the World Cup but as far as I know it didn't mean anything to the people of Wigan apart from the fact that I think Jason Robinson played. Never understood why folk would watch such boring dross but each to his own

The people in the packed out stadium seemed to be enjoying it.
Fantastics skills were on show from the All Blacks. When RU is played to that standard,i can fully understand why it's seen has the number one rugby game.

Will be a good test when they play the Aussies this weekend , after the win by QLDin the Super league it should be a good game , our cousins across the Tasman always rise whrn they play the Wallabies .

Why is the ENGLISH RUGBY UNION taking a Black jersey to the Rugby World Cup ?
They obviously are trying to copy the mighty ALL BLACKS - they may try to copy them, but they will never equal them !
Yes, I live in New Zealand (ex UpHolland)

7 years since we won the world cup Dennis, how long for New Zealand?
And I am glad to live in Wigan

fossil - New Zealand won it in 1987 - this was the first time that the Cup was played for.
Since then, New Zealand has taken a back seat and let other countries win it - they didn't want to dominate the game.

Douglas if every thread was only about Wigan then there would not be many topics only Warriors and Latics,Most people i know from Wigan have interest in sports world wide.
So why remove this thread

jay over the years they are by far the best team overall in the world, but as happens in sport come to the BIG one they have fallen short, may be this time NZ V England Final would be great Then i am on a winner either way loyalty in both camps

They deserve to win with the brand of rugby they play,if they dont win the neccessary games then they dont win the competition,no one has the divine right to win anything

Brynkiwi, my comment was tongue in cheek and a response to Jay1 who posts similarly any time anyone mentions Bolton.
Typical example below

In solidarity,I thank you Douglas.
I don't pour over or post much on the Sports board, because it didn't take long to realise that in addition to jay1 being a right infantile arrogant Barclays, he's anti free speech, niaively assumptive, and hence beneath contempt.
Now, compare that Peawap or pey-wet fella. I'd enjoy a beer or two with him. Sounds like a proper chap. Romantic too.... did you read his post- Turkish holiday blog? ( What?! TURKEY on a Wigan Board,... teh.).... I never thought when I've been after a beery loosener on me holidays, a tin of corned beef might do the trick to assuage the girlfriend. Hilarious.
