still not been announced AA

Reebok 25,000+ compared with HJ with less than 15 would be a wiser choice though

I would have guessed at the Reebok as Warrington's ground doesn't hold an awful lot of people.

still unconfirmed - incredible bad planning by RL HQ not to have published correct details sooner

Yes TOM - you would have expected them to have worked out the permutations before the results of todays game?

Incredible – venues have STILL not been confirmed!
The RL have had seven weeks since the quarter final draw to plan the semi permutations and still can’t decide where to play them.... and guess what – tickets were supposed to go on sale today!
They apparently overlooked the fact that Huddersfield Town are at home on the Saturday of the first planned semi final – is St. Pats available?

still dont know!! this the latest....

'Wigan Warriors are STILL awaiting to hear from the RFL the venue and date for the Carnegie Challenge Cup Semi-Final against St Helens.

The Club are expecting to find out the details later today and as soon we have the information we will update the website and send out the details to local media'

AT LAST!!!!!

The RFL has confirmed details of the two Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-finals following consultation with the clubs, broadcasters and the two venues.

The first semi-final, Wigan Warriors versus St Helens will be staged at The Halliwell-Jones Stadium, Warrington on Saturday 6th August with a 4.30pm kick off.

The second semi-final, Castleford Tigers versus Leeds Rhinos will be staged at Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, on Sunday 7th August with a 3.15pm kick off.

My thought at first St. Pat some indeed might say HJ is too small (14,000 I believe) and it should easily sell out

However if they had moved the game to Huddersfield I would be surprised if you got more than 14k turning up anyway. You would have a showpiece game between 2 of rugby's great clubs played in front of a half empty stadium, with little or no atmosphere and a terrible advert for the sport broadcast live on the BBC

So HJ was the better choice – apparently no soccer ground this side of the Pennines would take it

A great game in prospect and whoever wins this semi WILL win the cup

TOM,
As far as I can remember they have always played RL Cup semi-finals at neutral venues. They used to use Swinton a lot in the old days (Station Road).

Kenny - I know it clashes with the last bike ride (thats why I have been taking such an avid interest in it)
Pity I know, but lads today say 'bike ride goes ahead' (with earlier start to get back to Sams Bar for match at 4.30pm)

(will explain when I see you - thanks)

They might as well played both semi finals at Blackpool.

At least you can have a better day out then Doncaster and Warrington.

Seriously though, smaller grounds chosen just to rip supporters off with higher price tickets which they could not do with a 25,000 plus stadium.

Replied: 26th Jul 2011 at 08:22

which 25,000 seater ground was available Ruddy?

the soccer season beckons and every club approached, including Preston & Blackpool refused the game, citing possible pitch damage which would trouble their highly paid 'stars'!

So we are paying the price for having Semi Finals at the start of the football season.

Time to move the quarter and semi finals earlier?

Replied: 26th Jul 2011 at 16:37

Good point Ruddy

We had a seven week gap between the last round and the quarter final and only a two week gap between quarter and semi – hence the rush!

Is the allocation not based on numbers of season ticket holders or something similar. Bryan 121 why are all your posts about the Rugby of a negative nature. I suggest if you aren't a Rugby fan you just keep quiet. If it is a football post then post your drivel. Just as an afterthought who gets to Wembley will be decided on the pitch and not at RL headquarters.

Based pro rata on the number of season ticket holders at each club, and quite right too!

broady sorry for touching a nerve, a semi final should be split down the middle,i do watch rugby but only the better teams, sad to say , not many good teams in the league,i thought everybody had an opinion even if they did not support any sport so your suggestion is not going to happen.

Replied: 27th Jul 2011 at 18:50

Everyone is, of course, entitled to an opinion but I would say that a vast majority of your posts on Rugby are of a negative (one could even say pi** taking) view. Why should it be split down the middle? If a team has 10,000 season ticket holders and a higher average attendance why should they not get more tickets to cater for the week to week fans.

so they had 22,000+ on when wigan and saints played each other and now they need a ground that will hold 25,000

thats more than the premeirship team got against man utd liverpool, man city, all local teams

nah, that cant be right...according to some its a minority sport

bryamp121

So if United were playing the Latic's in a game on a neutral ground like Wembley, both clubs would get the same number of tickets in spite of the fact that one club would have thousands more season ticket holders.

If you worked on that logic, the stadium would be part empty unless United supporters got tickets at the Latic's.

But, is that the idea of United supporters who are not a season ticket holder of United?

daffy, you always try to twist things and always bring the latics into it,( sad man ) i said wigan getting 8 thousand and st helens getting 5 thousand was not fair, IF it was the latics ( as you keep bringing them up in most posts )then they should get 6500 tickets out of the thirteen and would sell them in no time.

you have big problems with united and latics.
