a letter in the paper

Started by: peawapp (5107)

you will by now have realised that it is a very rare ocurrence when I post about a letter in the rugby paper, but today a letter from mr Barlow of cottingham caught my eye.in it he writes that he was enjoying the Wigan v Leeds match on friday but once again Wigan were awarded a try from a blatant forward pass and even the sky commentators acknowledged this.in the game played earlier in the season against Saints Wigan were losing 10-0 near half time and the same thing happened. in both these matches the "tries" from the forward passes made the difference between winning and losing, in the game against H.K.R. a few weeks ago (which Wigan went on to win convincingly)the match was still finely balanced after an hour and Wigan scored from another out rageous forward pass ,in fact the report of that game in the times the pass was described as laughable and that even the Wigan players were giggling, and then he ask's why do Wigan get away with so many forward passes ,

I also read this letter along with all the others. You seem determined to rubbish the Warriors at every opportunity and hold an inbred hatred of our town in general and the Warriors in particular. Why would this be??? Oh yes you are from Leigh. I have many good friends from Leigh, some talk good sense about R L, others, like yourself, talk rubbish. I can explain your problem in one word, JEALOUSLY Its a pity really, because I believe you talk good sense in your political post. So, do us all favour and stop slagging off our Ancient and Loyal town and our beloved Rugby Team. Remember this is Wigan World and there are more of us than you!

Whilst the pass did seem to be a forward pass i will ask one question do the opponents of Wigan never get away with forward passes? Just accept it instead of moaning about it.You will have heard the saying its swings and roundabouts

The same reason United get so many penalties

You really should get your facts right tom.

united got about 5 penalties last season.

Liverpool, arsenal, chelsea and siddy all got more than united.

Asilly effort from a ABU.

Leigh must be the only team in RL who hasn't given a forward pass, as already stated, in most sports it's swings and roundabouts.....

Why is it that whenever Wigan get the benefit of a decision which leads to a try, a big song and dance is made out of it by every Tom, Dick and Harry, but let there be a similar decision against Wigan, (and their are plenty), and there is nothing said.

Anyone would think that only Wigan get the benefit of the doubt.

As for your precious Mr Barlow of Cottinghan, it is not the first time he has sent letters to the League Express having a go at Wigan.

And by the way, a few weeks ago in the Leeds v St Helens game there was a even more blatant forward pass which led to a try, but a fuss was not made about that by the anti- Wigan brigade.

Swings and Roundabouts!

You should know all about it, being a supporter of a team which plays at Old Trafford.

not for the first time Peawapp is lost for words ,every time I try to start a debate about a letter that has appeared in the rugby paper.every Wigan fan dives on here to blame me as though I am personally responsible for writing and publishing the said letter.well for your information I never give a thought to Wigan and their team, I presently have enough problems worrying about the mighty Leigh Centurions to mither myself with whether Sam Tomkins cheats or whether the referees are biased towards wigan .it's the writers of these letters that are accusing the Warriors not me, so if you would all kindly take off the cherry and white coloured spectacles and give the rest of us who aren't interested in the slightest about the pies,a break it will do me

It's rather amusing to see Leeds fans complaining of forward passes It's a bit like Saints fans complaining about Wigan lying on and Leigh... err, I can't remember much about Leigh

Watched it on the super League Show and it was not as bad as made out by some people, especially those in Yorkshire.

The reason that Wigan scored this try was not the suspected forward pass but poor defence from Leeds leading up to it.Richards had only to just run it in. However,if Richards, on recieving the ball had beaten a couple of defenders then Leeds would be right to feel hard done to.
