How can you hate atkinson as he was a legend and great to be in his company as such a good laugh plus great singer just pity got stitched up by someone turning on the microphone.

The first away game I was taken to was Wembley. Wigan lost to Wakefield 1963, went with my dad and grandad. Also remember watching Sent Ellins beat us in the 1961 final, that is where my hatred of them comes from

My Dad took me to see Bolton v Stoke at Burnden about '64
Can't remember the score or who won but I remenber being excited by the crowds reaction to every attacking move.

Replied: 30th Jun 2011 at 21:17
thats the very one trevwafc. if you you view it on you tube you will even see the referee clapping the goal. if any of the over priced footballers scored a goal like that these days it would be shown every week!

Frank was the guest speaker at a money raising event in Pem Workers the other week.
He came into the Games Room towards the end of the evening and chatted at length with us whilst he was waiting for someone to pick him up.
He is a pretty big bloke when you stand at the side of him, something that never really came across on the cameras.
He seemed very grounded, and a thoroughly decent bloke - but his pet subject was THAT goal.
He had a bloody awful shirt on - it was so loud you needed ear defenders. Happily I had some to hand as I am used to drinking with Jarvo!
