2 brave Latics fans at Britannia
Tickets for Wigan supporters were sold out so I was amongst the Stoke supporters on Sunday in the south stand(well had to be there when Wigan stayed up)- I took my two lads with me, drilled it into them they must stay silent if and when Wigan score, my youngest who is 7 jumped up when the goal went in but thankfully the Stoke fans attention was focussed on a couple of Latics supporters a couple of rows forward from us-they did not try to conceal their joy and were jumping up and down and cheering when we scored- I thought they were going to get lynched! Needless to say they were marched out by the stewards PDQ. Was wandering if they were on here, if they are would like to congratulate them on their bravery!

Well done to those boys.
I'd expect nothing less of Tics men.
I take it dignity was displayed was when they were being escorted out.

Back to the original posting
Why were they ‘marched out by the stewards’?
Is it unlawful for fans to mingle or just individual clubs own rules?
I am not being flippant I am just curious
I did hear of a company on a corporate function at the DW this season and one individual was threatened with ejection because he had the audacity to cheer an away goal; not because he supported them, but because he had correctly placed a bet on the first scorer!
So let me get this right – unless you support the home team, you cannot sit in a ‘home’ seat
How strange! Whatever happened to ‘banter’ with away fans?
Oh Central Park how I miss you!

wigvet i suppose its to stop, a situation arrising i remember the carling cup final when wigan played united and the stewards put about 50 united fans in wigans section there were men women and children who were getting abused and you could see some wigan fans getting very angry they were there, and quiet a few stewards had to escort them out of the wigan end

wigvet,
Sadly, it's true that if you're an away supporter in a home section then you're liable to be hauled out if you show your true colours.
The trick is to sit on your hands and stay tight-lipped - harder said than done of course- as I know to my painful cost after once blowing my cover , thinking I might just be safe in the Lads and Dads section at Molyneux.
It also helps if the home team are winning handsomely when you score and they just take the mickey if you're lucky. If you happen to take the lead and cheer, god help you.
Slightly off -topic but I was pleasantly surprised to see a rarity at Craven Cottage this season -- a 'Neutrals Section''

There are no Home or Away stands over here..... even if you have season tickets, you could still have an away fan sat in front of, next to or in back of you...
I have to admit, I would prefer to have all 'like' fans together, especialy if we are playing bitter rivals and they are winning..
