Well done boys

Manchester United fans attempting to ensure maximum enjoyment is wrung out of the club's record-breaking 19th title took their cause to Anfield on Sunday, unveiling a banner inside the ground before the Reds' game against Spurs.

United clinched their landmark 19th title on Saturday, finally eclipsing Liverpool's total of 18, and the club's supporters went to great lengths to ensure those at Anfield were fully aware of that fact.

As Liverpool fans began their customary chorus of You'll Never Walk Alone, United fans, organised by the Red Issue fanzine, unveiled a banner emblazoned with the words "MUFC 19 TIMES" in the Anfield Road End of the ground.

Those responsible had a getaway car waiting outside the ground, plus fellow conspirators in the adjoining stand in order to get photographic evidence.

The banner-baiting between the clubs has a long history, with Liverpool fans' now famous "Come Back When You Have Won 18" banner kicking things off in 1994. United fans responded to that after clinching their 18th title in 2008-09 and have now added another chapter to the ongoing rivalry.

Here's the story as told to the Red Issue fanzine by one of the lads who pulled of this fantastic prank.

"We'd been planning this for years and i'm buzzin it's come off. We'd gotten 2 tickets in the Anfield upper and got the banner made on Friday. As we walked up towards the ground i had the biggest grin on me head knowing we were about to pull it off. My only worry was not getting in with it. I shouldn't have worried. A few beers on the concourse and we waited for YNWA to start as that was our signal to go. We walked down to the front of the their end and unfurled it. We had to hold it up cos there was nothing to tie it onto and it was up for for roughly 40 seconds before i got launched by the stewards. A bit of spit and that was all. It was a scouse slag that spat at me too i think

"Fair play to the Spurs fans who were buzzin and we threw it down into their end. Afterwards we walked round the ground and then had a couple of pints near Goodison with an Everton lad my mate knew and got a call saying their lads were looking for us. Not suprising really is it!

"All in all we had a result and believe me it happened and any scouser who says that picture isn't for real then they're blagging.

"MUFC 19 TIMES!"

They did it at Eastlands at the end of the Spurs game, although not many saw it as they didn't unfurl it properly.

I saw him do it and was initially a bit miffed as the culprit ran up the steps and out of the stadium but I soon saw the funny side. Fair play to him for having the nerve to do it, he risked life and limb.

But after all its just banter.

They had/have the 35 years banner at OT but not many Blues really gave a monkeys about it, we just saw it as silly, it was the media who banged on about it. There was a bit of satisfaction in knowing that although they said we did not matter in our dark days they just couldn't stop mentioning us.

I hope they leave it up, as I say it's all banter and the Liverpool fans should feel the same. I bet they would do something similar in the same position.
