Legendary jockey Lester Piggott has passed away aged 86 .
Probably the greatest jockey ever .

R.I.P. Lester you won me a few bob over the years, Always remember the gag Bernard Manning said on Question of Sport. "When Piggott got jailed they had to blindfold him and reverse him into his cell"

I never saw Sir Gordon but i did see Scobie .
Its all a matter of opinion but i stand by my view regarding Lester .

I was at longchamp the first time he won the Arc on Rheingold, absolutely brilliant ride. RIP lester.

I was at Doncaster when the great Nijinsky won the triple crown with Lester on board .
The horse had been suffering with ringworm and only the vets and the greatest trainer ever got him to the post .
Given a great sympathetic ride by Lester to get him home .

I backed Meadoville and Poitico each way in that race.They finished 2nd and third both at 20/1. Went to the bookies (Wally Mills) at halfway house to draw my winnings only to be told they only pay 5/2 a place when the favourite is odds on!

He is being buried next Thursday at 20/1.

No I didn’t. Sorry about that. It seems anyone who didn’t isn’t acceptable to you. You know when you turn your gas fire on that has been shipped from a field far away. I did work on laying those mega sized pipes. When oil runs into Stanlow to make petrol I worked on the pipelines that transport that oil. But no, I never went down the pit.

not got a gas fire . you seemed to have it easy standing upright & not crouching down . anyone would think you layed those pipes with your bare hands instead of some mega sized crane . not much handballing there is it .
