A lot will depend on what goes on above him and how much clout he'll really be given.
Seeing the back of Woodward was hopefully the start of some big changes in the direction of the club, as always time will tell.

If he is not, they will soon get rid of him out by the revolving door!

Correct, but in the periods between Busby and Ferguson, United had a number of different managers like they have had since Ferguson retired.

I am still of the opinion that Ferguson's choice of David Moyes as his successor was the correct one and the United board should have stuck with him and not allow the supporters have their way like thy tried to do when Ferguson was appointed and where at the beginning were losing games and demanding that he be sacked which he was at their demand.

With bigger finance, he would have got better quality players and would have been a even better manager than what he was at Preston, Everton where he have limited finance and even now at West Ham where with not the same finance and lesser quality players, he has taken them from around the bottom of the Premiership to the top.

All depends on the backing he gets from the top and gets a free reign re transfers .

"Erik Ten Hag" and what a stupid name for a manager, United won't win a thing, if they have a manager with a stupid name like that, so why don't they appoint an English manager, with preferably an English name, like they did with Alex Ferguson, and then they might be able to win something

Chatty.

The board did indeed sack Moyes but only because the club was losing games at the beginning of his appointment and the fickle element got their own way in demanding that he be sacked.

Thankfully, when the same thing happened to Ferguson when appointed. the then board took no notice of the fickle supporters and the rest is history.

Are you for real, the current board and owners have never given a toss what the fans say, do or think!
The board appointed him and the board sacked him.
And it was obviously a different set up in the early days of Fergie so no pointless trying to compare the two and not everyone wanted rid of him despite what you would have us believe.

Grimshaw

Pity that the managers United had in the period between Busby and Ferguson with one exception and the number of foreign managers since Ferguson retired, have not reach the level expected of them!

The best three and most successful managers United have ever had since the war have been Scottish, so why buck the trend?

Football supporters need to get away from the idea that ALL foreign managers and indeed players in the British game are the best in the world.

A minority are, but the majority now at clubs in the UK are no better than many British managers or players born in our country.

The board have to appoint the person they think is the right man for the job (and we all know the current boards track record) irrespective of where he was born, just because previous managers from a certain country happened to do well it is nonsense to suggest all managers from that country will, and Moyes was a case in point no matter how you try and dress it up.

Well i see my friend Grimshaw is asking the question "what do utd fans think about the proposed new manager Eric Ten Hag Good or Bad "So going of the press today if he comes his hands will be tied to £ 20 milion spending money and if by some miraculous chance we clinch the fourth place it will only be £60 million's ,a slight loosing of his hands. The next i will say to him is at this juncture i will have to sit on the proverbial fence. My reason's are because what i cannot get my head round is that this team we have now on paper should be breaking all records, also we should still be in strong contention for the champion's league .So this is why i have given Mr. Grimshaw this response . What i do believe is no matter who is boss all this nonesense about the dressing room being split MUST CEASE ! What these player's should realise is that they are playing for one of the very best team's in the world ,and it should be a privilige just to put the jersey on in the first place . ..GB

Just woke up to the old story that United may be offering Pogba £500,000 a week. Allegedly causing discontent in the dressing room. Yesterday he was reportedly in talks with PSG who told him he would have to drop what money he wanted. So why would United even think of increasing his wage? Get shut.

No football player or indeed managers are worth the money, they are getting today.

When Jimmy Hill and George Eastham got the maximum wage abolished, they never envisage what a monster it would become today and what it would cost supporters in admission prices to watch it.

A lucky win today. A Ronaldo hat trick saved the game for them. Having said that the first was a gift and the goalkeeper was at fault for the third. However it was a win. The other games went their way so who knows what will happen next. I can’t fathom team selection. Lingard and Pogba who , according to reports, won’t be there next season started the game and they were replaced by Mata and Matic who reportedly are leaving also.

Just read that Ronaldo had £850,000 reasons to celebrate his goals yesterday. Apparently he gets £100,000 per goal for the rest of the season. He will be throwing his arms up if they don’t pass to him.

Broady you mention Ronaldo's goals were a bit fortunate ie first one a gift ,then third one goalkeeper should have saved it , well i answer you by saying well at least he is there to score these sort of goal's , i ask you then who else were any where near to score ??? I will agree with you on team selection ,this bloody idiot has not a clue on who and where to play ,player's. I said a bit back about his comment's that he was going to give Pogba chance's to play knowing he was leaving as you also stated with Lingard . Then later that night his comment's about Tuesday's game at L/pool he thinks we will get hammered , should a coach not come out with quote's like that ??/ Finally has for "Ten Hag " saying Ronaldo is not in his plans for next season ... Well the mind boggle's you start next term without your top goal scorer ,how clever is that ??? As for the squad we have now i have just finished a book about the "Munich Air Crash " and the Busby babes, and what is MISSING from my point of view with the current player's is , A LACK OF PRIDE IN THE CLUB ,, A LACK OF PASSION ,, A LACK OFF TEAM SPIRIT ,,, FINALLY A LACK OF HONOUR ,,, ALL these are missing with this lot of over paid prima donna's ....GB
