Exactly who owns M.U.F.C?

Started by: Don GB (662)

Manchester United have confirmed that Kevin and Edward Glazer have sold 9.5million shares in the club this month.

The shares were sold at a price of $16.98 per share, which has netted the two Glazer siblings a total of $161,310,000. At current exchange rates that works out at around £117million.That statement said: "Manchester United plc (“Manchester United”) today announced the offering of 9,500,000 of its Class A Ordinary Shares by the Kevin Glazer Irrevocable Exempt Family Trust and the Edward S. Glazer Irrevocable Exempt Trust (the “Selling Shareholders”).

"Manchester United will not receive any proceeds from the sale of any Class A Ordinary Shares by the Selling Shareholders.

This latest sale is worth roughly eight per cent of the Glazer's family's total combined ownership of the club, which now stands at 69 per cent.

So, who owns the other 31%?

Just curious like.

The shares sold by the Glazer siblings last week are "speciality" shares traded on the New York stock market worth one vote per share.
Not to be confused with the exclusively owned Glazers 120 Million "A" shares worth 10 votes per share when it comes to voting on any club issues.
You don't think the shysters canny enough to get away with buying the club on a credit card and foisting the debt back onto it are going to renounce an ounce of power do you.
You'd quite like the thought of an Arab backed regime like the one at Newcastle who lured a journalist to an Embassy and had him cut up small enough to be carried out in holdalls running Manchester United wouldn't you sadsack!

Grim, no doubt Chatty hasn't a clue of the above (without frantic googling), do you? Do you know who owns the club you "support"?

If so, pray tell.

I am far from being a sycophant but i do recognise the superiority of chatty over you and your pal.
Clearly you know more about utd share holding etc etc than i do so pray advise, but make sure you are spot on otherwise you will be open to ridicule .

You haven't a clue have you, and I assume neither has your master puppeteer, so come on, who owns M.U.F.C.?

I haven't a clue, and why should I? You are the one who pretends to support the club not me.

That's all I asked, and I didn't make any insinuations. The 31% might be upstanding citizens, and I'm sure they are. I have no reason to believe otherwise, I'm just curious as to the shareholding.

Get googling!

Well, well, look who's been smoked out of his sulky lair!

I see, so you "notice" when I don't bother posting but have me "on ignore" for when I do.
The smell of BS is even thicker in the air than usual

Either way does someone who he hasn't put on "ignore" (yea right ) care to take him by the hand and walk him step by step to explain to him it's irrelevant who "owns" the other 31% of shares, it gives them no power at all and any money invested in those shares are akin to having a bet on a horse in a race in which they have no control over whatsoever!
The club unfortunately is well and truly still in the grip of the Glazers.

It's what he does NS, he can't help himself.

I ask a perfectly civil question (to which I now assume he, and the others, hadn't a clue of the answer), about the club he "supports", and (judging from your reply to him), he comes out of his sulky lair to ruin yet another thread.

His insecurities are obvious to all, which is presumably why he always feels the need to criticise and confront rather than engage in adult conversation. His minions simply follow suit as they know no better..

BTW, did he actually answer the question, who owns the other 31% (and if so who did he say owned it) or was he just his usual confrontational self?

Nobody on here has to prove anything to anybody. Stop spoiling threads and go for a ride on your Honda 50., give everybody a rest.

Dear Lord it's like pulling teeth
The other 31% is on the open market anyone can own them, in fact I discovered last year that I indirectly own a share of the club due to fact an investment fund I pay into bought a tranch of
the shares, what is the point you are trying to make o years?

"Putting me in my place" , that'll be the day, he's thicker than pea soup.

He just doesn't know who the other shareholders are does he?

A simple bit of googling would shed light, if he can work out how to do it.

So he says he is one of the 31% does he.

Oooh, what a veritable Wolf of Wall Street he is.

There should be plenty like him, but there are also institutional investors who have millions of shares.

Like I said, a bit of googling is all it takes.

Don he doesn't say he's one of 31 Hes says the 31 percent is on the open market so anyone could own them,he then says he'd a share he knew nothing about. So he does indeed it seems he as a share of the 31 percent.

That's correct NS, anyone can own them including institutional investors and he hasn't got a clue who they are by all accounts.

Next he will be asking me to dig him out of the proverbial by "proving" who they are, but I don't care, it's just funny that he hasn't a clue.

Not only that but as he is on ignore, all I see is that he has replied, not his reply, so I don't need to witness his bluster. BLISS!

Why should I be concerned about who owns individual tranches of shares and even less should you.
As already stated the Glazers have an iron grip on ownership of the club.
I still can't see what point you are getting at????

HI DonGB ,, All this is way above my head as to who own's what all i have to say is that i am very still angry and very sad that they sold the heart and soul of the club all those years back . Personally i just wish that the government at the time should have vetoed it ,but you know me Don i must be an old stick in the mud . At the end of the day it's these sorts that are just simply making money out of us the true supporters. Oh by the way V.Good win on tuesday well done ....GB

GB, If I was a utd fan I would probably feel the same as you do but utd have won alot of stuff on their watch.

It isn't Glazers fault that Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour have come in to compete financially with utd. And I understand that the Glazers have authorised alot of spending in their time.

I think the difference is that both Chelsea and City had the heart and souls removed but we got something in exchange...success. utd already had success, so you feel hard done by.

Us oldies yearn to stand in the Kippax/Stretford end/Shed. We see today's "matchday experience" and support as sterile but kids of today who sit in the Colin Bell/Alex Ferguson/Matthew Harding have known nothing else and to them there is plenty heart and soul.

Maybe we are just getting old and prefer things to be like they used to be. You may not believe this but in my decades of following City, the happiest times were in the 2nd/3rd division. Those were the days......we had heart aplenty then, we needed it!

City/Chelsea lost and gained from our takeovers, whereas you just lost.
