Yes, I do. I lived in Knowles Street, the other side of Platt Lane, and we used to cut through there to get to Hilton's paper shop on Whelley. My mum used to clean at Bibby's wool shop just further along. And those injuries - a friend of mine rode his bike down Baron Street and down the steps at full tilt( you used to do things like that in those days ), and, guess what ? He fell off and broke his arm ! Happy days, eh ?

I remember Ben Round having the paper shop on one corner and Billy Worthington the barbers shop on the other corner.

My grandparents (Mother and Father)Paddy and Alice Dyer moved from Bradshawgate to Baron Street in the early '60s. My Mum was Eileen Dyer and my uncles were Tony and John Dyer. Their friends around scholes were: Martin and Edwin Gallagher, Joe and Bill McFarlane, Tack O'Neil, John Fallon, Vera and Mick Lyons, Annie Ruddie (Ruane), Philomena Rogers, Kitty Conway, Terry Burgess.
In Baron street I remember the McMahon kids, David Moore, Vanessa Jolley, (Christine Pendlebury, Neil Marsh and the Parkinsons from the police houses on Northumberland Street)Yes, I remember the steps which I roller skated down and the derelict house on the bottom corner of Baron and Bolton Street that was haunted. We played cricket on the "Breid" at the bottom and walked over the fields to the iron bridge over the canal near Top Lock.
