does anyone know of John alker. c 1770 clockmaker shops in millgate and market place. wigan in the 1800's

Hi Christine

I have found a John Alker of Millgate Wigan in the family search - I'm not sure if it is the same John, b1750c and Married Margaret Barton on 21/4/1780. She was born 27/10/1753 her parents Thomas Barton mother Margaret ??

Do you have Genes Reunited I have noticed that there are a couple of people on there that have John Alker of Wigan in their family trees.

There is a very rare book 'Clockmakers of Wigan' I am sure the library will have a copy. There may be something in there?

I have a Samuel Davenport in my family tree who was a watchmaker in Millgate. Could there be a connection?
