WW1 wounded soldiers

Does anyone know how long it took the casualty lists to arrive from France to the Wigan papers in WW1 ?
My grandad appears as wounded in the Wigan Observer dated 14th July 1917 ( copy at museum of Wigan life ).
Would he have been wounded the previous week, or month ?
Any assistance would be welcome.

With up to 30000 soldiers being killed or injured DAILY it would take weeks or months to collate all the figures
