ELAINE .SORRY SORRY SIXYEARS TO ANSWER ,TOMMY HERE FROM MOFFAT.I AM GOING BACK TO APPROX,1946/7 I LIVED AT 49 LONGFIELD ST, MRS CROMPTON LIVED A FEW DOORS AWAY MAYBE 41/43 WAS HER HUSBHAND CALLED DICKY ?OR WAS THAT HER SON ,I WAS ABOUT 10/12 AT THAT TIME .IF YOU LIVE IN NEW SPRINGS NOW YOU WILL KNOW THERE IS STILL A LONGFIELD ST, SOME PEOPLE DONT THINK THERE IS .,HOPE THIS REACHES YOU TOMMY,

I used to be friends with Rita Fletcher who lived in Longfield st in the 40s/50s
There are none of the original houses left in Longfield St or Bolney St there is a new estate built there I am not sure if the names of the streets have been kept though

There is still Longfield Street in New Springs although all the old terraced houses have gone there are a few old houses at the bottom end and half a dozen at the top end. Many of the old families stayed in the area when the terraces came down although the name Fletcher doesn't ring any bells.
