Church Organists

Does anyone have or know of a list of church organists from the 1920-40 era?
I'm trying to find which church/s my g'dad John Albert Wilson (1899-1981) may have played at. He lived in Poolstock and Ince and may have had Methodist connections. He left the area c. 1939.

Methodist Church Organist, somewhere near Wigan, ages ago.
