Kath Arkwright, I can't thank you enough! How on earth did you manage to find this out? Was Eva baptised? If so whereabouts in Poplar? Have you seen transcripts or something similar?

I looked on the ONS website where you can search for births with the mother's maiden name.

Kath Arkwright, how lovely to hear from you. I have just tried finding the ONS website via Google as suggested. No joy. Please confirm the websites full address. Many thanks

No wonder I couldn't find it lol. I am keen to see what you originally found - since referred to enclosed website. Is this the correct one? I cant find a way to carry out a search, just like you did.

gro.gov.uk and you should find the bit about searching but as Winnie says you have to register and the login/register bit is on the right hand side. Just putting GRO will bring up different options which all take you to the same place! Good Luck.

I am trying to establish if Mary (maiden name Godfrey) and husband Thomas Radford who married on 8th May 1845 at The Parish Church, St Mary Arches, Exeter, Devon went on to have children other than the ones seen below. I suspect they lost one possibly more?

Children Adah Radford Born 9th October 1846 in Willand, Devon Frank Godfrey Radford Born 23rd January 1858 in Willand, Devon

Any suggestions are welcome.

Barbara,

If you look at the 1881 census, you will notice that there is a visitor named ELLEN TOVEY listed with the family. She is married and is visiting. She was born around 1850/51 in Willand, Devon, where Adah and Frank Godfrey were born. It might be worth trying to find out whether she could have been a Radford daughter. I don't know whether the numerator heard correctly with Tovey, but I couldn't find her in 1891 or 1901. I did find a marriage of an Ellen Radford, aged 29, to a John Charles Tovey in Bristol in 1880, but the father's name here is given as William. Don't have time to delve deeper at the moment.
