According to the web site United Utilities dont allow dogs on their land, but there is an alternative route.

Dogs are banned because they're dirty, smelly, pests to society and belong on farmyards with the other dirty, smelly animals.
Death by ........ clouting with a spade!

Are there ducks and other water birds about? I expect it's to stop them being pestered by dogs - especially when nesting

Worthington reservoirs are the only ones which don't allow dogs, all the other reservoirs owned by United Utilities allow dogs, there are no notices banning dogs anyway.

They can't ban blind dogs, by law. But, it would be fair to ban them really, because they might lose their footing, causing them to fall in the water and drown!

Personnaly I would think it may be because they do not want dogs from going into the water sytem that we all use, I don't think it would be a good idea letting them piss and shit in the water do you??

Fish piss and shit in it, and you don't bother about them. That's discriminatory!

Worthington Reservoirs are not now used for drinking water,I was told they use them for maintaining the water level on the L&L canal via the river Douglas, they used to use Foulridge.

My brother lived at Waterside alongside Worthington lakes. They were told to keep their dog away from the drinking water

I wouldn't let my dog anywhere near that water - you just don't know who's been in it 😃
