does anybody remberes racing pigeons in the scholes area

I have a neighbour who has a backyard full, There are still quite a few pigeon fanciers around here.

my late father used to keep pigions he was from the scholes area is name was peter green i wonder if any body knew him

My Great uncle Fred Taylor who had the pen by the side of the Clarrington brook
Had pigs ,horses chickens and veg but his fav was Pigeons he raced then from everywhere even France How well I remember standing with the clock watching for them to pass Clarrington forge chimney If they didn,t come into the loft first time he would wring their necks and it would be pigeon broth for supper, my mam used to say its good fer your bad chest
I had 2 tumblers like Getwom I was so embarased they only went up folded their wings and spireled to the ground my mates had a good laugh lol
