In the 1881 census Alkers Lane appears just before Edgewood Hall Farm which was farmed by the Alker family. Robert Wright and his family lived on Alkers Lane.
In the 1891 census Robert and his family are now living at 7 Edge Hall Rd which, of course, is where Edgewood Hall Farm is also located.
It may be that Alkers Lane was the original name of Edge Hall Rd and named after the farming family that lived there.
