Brian's Canal Walks

Started by: dougie (5019)

I know you cant do it right now but Mick brought up what Wigan council should do on (photo-of-day) with the Wigan stretch of the Leeds/Liverpool canal, it's prompted me to upload just one off Brian & Thomas walk along it to show one of our full days out last summer, you can pick any section of the canal --For them that not seen it--
But I chose the --Rufford Canal--

Dougie, it's not council level responsibility. The government have local authorities to do some things and other departments to do other things. The government department responsible for canals is DEFRA. Sub branches of DEFRA include the forestry trust and the canal and rivers trust.
The canal is their responsibility.

Leave Wigan council to what they're responsible for, like collecting tax and paying money out for daft statues and bad block-paving in Wigan town centre!

I only posted two links one Brian explaining his canal walks with his son of 11, as most people that don't bother to look any farther than the Message Board, if people parked the car anyone could spend a full day walking not only on the Rufford Canal but all round that area, I would ask anyone thats not walked the canal just pick a stretch and park-up give it a try it this summer
