Liverpool Road, Ashton

Had a stroll down Liverpool Rd in Ashton (Ashton's millionaires row as I call it:) and I noticed the old Unsworth bungalow is being renovated. I noticed they've demolished that double garage and been erecting timber on the front what looks like a roof structure, probably extending the house, why when the house is already very large to begin with. I bet it's costing the owner a fortune. You could park a coach on that driveway it's that wide, plus fit about a dozen cars round the back in those garages.

They probably spending their money afore tax man gets his hands on it, or they maybe moving in laws on premises.

It's only got three bedrooms and one bathroom. On top of that, it's fronting onto a very busy main road which is regularly jammed, yards from traffic lights which will cause queuing cars and lorries to block it's driveway. It enjoys terrible air quality due to this.
It's overlooked at the back and both sides.

The size of the houses are enough to make most people want to live there despite the busy road; those garages alone would be the lust of any car collector, no doubt heated inside. If only us peasants could afford a 400 grand house. I noticed the house opposite on the corner of the old Skitters Rd has had new windows (those ugly gray ones that seem to be in fashion - no character whatsoever) a new front door, and the new occupant has their fancy status symbol Range Rover on the drive. Where do they get their money from?.

I've lived around the Skitters area since the early 90s, and compared to when we lived in Wigan Rd prior the difference in neighbourly spirit is like night and day. Around the estate behind the Pity Pony there's very little community spirit, nobody wants to know you or say hello if your're walking your dog.

My first house cost me £450 on Rose Hill at Bryn, that was in 1963 no Bath or hot water but I must have been one of the first with en-suite in the back bedroom, it was the start of my married life that as lasted for 57 years with no regrets of climbing the ladder the hard way

The house in question, where Clive Unsworth lived, has been stripped out completely. It will be a total redesign when it's finished.

I walked past Unsworth's old bungalow a few days ago and they've completely altered the house. A couple of blokes on the roof fixing timber with window frames in place. Imagine how much that's costing. I wish I could afford a new conservatory. Some people have too much money.

Speaking of Liverpool Road, but does Vera Melling (the driving instructor) still live there?. I would guess if she's still alive she'd be over 100 now as was my gran went to the same school and she left before she did and my grand died in 2017 at the age of 96.
