abso bloody lutly, I keep a 'trench art' lighter in my pocket most of the time, I don't smoke but every time I touch it, It put me in mind of some Tommy in a trench in WW1, they made these from used shells to past the time,

if only this could speak

If anyone needs to be reminded to wear one they should be ashamed of themselves.

As I put on another site on 11/11 at 9-00 on bbc1 a program called Grandads war, it’s about the Italian campaign, I will be watching with interest my dad fought in that campaign with the eighth army. It bills it to explore a brutal and often overlook chapter of World War Two,

There's a bloke being called a 'tosser' for wearing one on another thread.

Stars, my late wife's father was killed there, Monte Cassino, in January 1944. We visited a few times to his plot in the cemetery a father she never saw or knew as she was just 14mnths old when word came.
I hope the programme can lay the myth that those involved in that campaign were the ' D day dodgers'

showing on BBCiplayer, Our Great War, a series of programs made from letters and information from soldiers who were actually there, In my opinion a well made program made from facts and not a hollywood type glorifying War,

Our Great War

you will enjoy it Terry, I know you will, its 3 stories taken from soldiers who were in the war at the time, From diary's they kept and letters they wrote home and from interviews later in life, backed up from facts known about the battles, losses and gains,

TerryW, I hope you don't mind, but I "borrowed" your poppy picture and posted it on one of my FB pages. My area has a poppy reserve (if you Google Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve you can see the millions we get each year) I thought your picture appropriate to honor all veterans, past and present, wherever they may be.
