I often get a bill, and a reminder for the bill being not paid, arriving IN THE SAME POST!

You can ask your question via their website, Peter G: www.eonenergy.com

I found out by using the link above by jo anne that everyone who has a smart meter and is not on direct debit will get a monthly bill from now on. It sounds like bribery to me.

I've opted out having a smart meter as I can't see how I would benefit,I've taken advise from Peter Jones to join "Look after my bills"he's on Dragons Den on TV

I've heard mixed reviews about smart meters. Most of my colleagues have one and like them but my mum is old school and refuses to have one.

I'm sat on the fence at the moment undecided.

I only got one because my meter is in an awkward place to reach and estimated bills are always wrong so it worked for me till now. but i'd rather pay quaterly

I was talking to a girl, on Thursday, who works for Eon and this thread came to mind.
She told me that they've had a lot of complaints about the monthly bills starting but, she says, the customers have been warned beforehand (on previous bills, in very small writing, on part of the page which your eye never focuses on!)

It applies to any customer who has a Smart meter, has a quarterly bill account, but is not on direct-debit.
Some people have just paid their quarterly bill and received another immediately, however, because they've not paid the second bill straight away they've got a 'late-payment charge'.

Why do the British public put up with this manipulative shit?

The British public need to start reading the small print and stop blaming others for their failings. It’s there in writing. We all know about the small print, start reading it. It’s not brain surgery.

Just a word of warning. If you have smart meters fitted ensure that you have a written, authorised by the installer, record of the closing readings on the old meters. In spite of me doing this and witnessing the technician entering the correct readings on her computer I was overcharged by more than 1,000 units because someone somewhere in the depths of EON changed the entry. It took quite some effort to get it reinstated correctly and the refund of £165.
