Trade Mission to Fiji

Whilst reading about the Farepak fiasco I noticed that Ian McCartney is currently unavailable for comment as he is on a trade mission to Fiji (What volume of trade does the UK / Makerfield carry out with Fiji)

Having read previously of his fondness of Rugby League am I being overly cynical in thinking that his "Trade Mission" to the Southern Hemisphere at the same time as the GB team are there is more than coincidence?

Hear in Australia we have warships standing by to evacuate ex pats living in Fiji due to an impending coup. Trade missions seem a little out of place as does the Rugby.

the whole world is *****d up. i worry at the mass migrations from the east. the whole culture thing is going down the pan??here in the UK we have open borders(can you believe that in this day and age?)we have political correctness, health and safety(prevents kids playing any sport deemed dangerous to health?) we have a situation here, were the lunatics are running the asylum.

Seeing that Ian McCartey has been on TV all weekend, trying (& succeeding) to set up a charity/fundraising event to bring some cheer to the farepack victims.The header in this thread is a load of...You name it!!!
As well as being a local MP, he's a minister of the government, & the only one attempting to do owt about the problem. So give a "little" bit of credit where it's due

The information saying that Ian McCartney was unavailable for comment was on the Wigan Today website on Monday.As that is a reputable website I had no reason to doubt it and still haven't.Incidentally the problem with Farepak isn't exclusive to Wigan and I am sure MP's around the country are working just as diligently to resolve the problem.

he is asking all m/ps to give one days pay.considering what they are paid +expenses,mighty generous [i dont think]
should the government not be doing something instead of worrying about wheelie bins

Billy we threw a few shrimps on the barbie yesterday Melbourne Cup Day. The horse race that stops a nation.The favourite ran 19th, 1st & 2nd 2 Japanese horses. I think most people got more enjoyment from the Coopers & the barbies than the race.

Ian McCartney is a really nice guy.He can come across as being not very approachable but i have found him in the past to be of good help to me.He also as a sense of humour.
Regarding Farepak, he feels very passionatly about this.He said recently that when he was younger and times were hard and money tight he would have been devasted as a family man to have saved all year for Christmas and it all to have been for nothing.
He wants all MPs to give up a day's wages to help these families.The media as highlighted some cases on the TV but i know the majority of these families are all on low incomes.
Farepak bosses will enjoy there Christmas dinner in their big nice houses and presents under the trees, will they spare a thought for Joe public, will they heck.They knew ages ago the company was going under but still allowed money to be collected. They should be made to account for this.

I agree with you. Ian McCartney is the best m.p Wigan has ever had or will ever have I won't go into details it would take too much time but he works very hard for Wiganers, or, anyone who needs his help.Credit where credits due.

how come the boardroom of this hamper con, are not going to make a personal contribution??

The working class of this country count for nowt, and the millioniares get away with anything,has one famous leading politician once said those that can afford justice will get justice.As with speeding soccer stars and t/v personalities have done lately.

Easy.. Hidden by company law, the (Limited liabilty) firm can go bust without touching the owners, unless fraud is proved (in simple terms that is)
