Hype in adverts

Started by: aitch (5487)

In my club tonight, on the HD telly they were advertising HD tellies, Flashing lights vivid colours look what you are missing, Now we have an ordinary wide screen telly as well and the same advert is on that, and they look just the same, no difference in colour or anything else so who is kidding who. How can you experience the new system if you dont have a new telly so why try to advertise on a telly that cannot receive the HD service, so who is kidding who and do you know of any other advertising scams.

aitch...there are a couple of channels that preview HD progs.i"l let you know later which two they are. i have an HD ready widescreen tv. speaking for myself, the clarity of the pics is just so good. i make comparisons with the wifes TV(no squabling here)she has a big screen SONY, and believe me aitch, the difference is there to see. mine is much much better.PS before you ladies attack me for discrimination and chauvanism, she wont part with her set. (so there)

Yes but how can you visualise it when its shown on a ordinary set, and like your wife I have a wide screen sony.

It's getting that way, nowadays, that everything is looking like a cartoon drawing. In photography as well as television. The picture on the screen looks clearer and more 'HD' than the 'real' picture that you get through your eyes. This suggests that anybody with less than perfect eyesight will never notice the difference between HD and ordinary D. It's just another fraud, like Aitch has already noticed.

round here the company 'buy as u view' are telling the elderly they need to get a HD telly cos their ones wont work next year, i visited one neighbour just in time to tell her its going digital not HD so put her pen away....and even if we had to have HD tv's she could get one alot cheaper than having a coin operated tv that lets you watch 3 hours for £1....but i wonder how many people they have conned????

But also...goto Asda they got all sorts of tvs set up on back wall and they all seem to have the same quality picture(to me anyway)
