you might not be able to afford a new one but could you not pay weekly.i don't know how much it costs to rent but its worth looking into in case you can buy one for a similar price.although if you rent then they will be responsible for repairs and mantinance.hope you get sorted soon, its amazing how the washing builds up.good luck anyway.

Thankyou everyone for your help
Unfortunatley at the moment i'm not in a position to buy another as i dont have the cash upfront. I have applied at brighthouse so i can pay weekly but although its only 5 pounds a week i'd end up paying over 500 for one in the end!!(atleast i'd be paying for it to become mine though) they are really taking their time with application and i really dont have time to be waiting!
I have also just applied to rent one from the anything-direct site. so just waiting to see which one contacts me first!!

Hi Twigginer, have you tried getting one from a catologue (your own or a friends) that way you will only pay what it's worth and not £500 or more. Also look in the penny adds(do they still call them that?)
Good luck anyway on your expected arrival. Boy or Girl, do you know?

Ebay, just find washing machines, go to advanced search put in a 10 mile radius of where you live & you will find they dont get many bids as they will be collection only, i seen one finish in Westhoughton for £25 not long ago, we got our bunk beds for £20 from Wigan as they were collection only, they were brand new & they had paid £225 for them, worth a try.

I have lots of luck (mostly bad!) my washing machine from ebay lasted 3 days before packing up on me its a siemens and no local mechanics will fix it Does anyone know of any cheap washing machines being sold? Even reconditioned ones are out of my price range as they all seem to be £100+
Thanks

The only thing that works on it at the moment appears to be the little light that tells you that its switched on. But it did work fine for the first 3 days.

check on the back of the machine what the make model and serial number is and get on to the manufacturer if it is less than 3 years old cos it is probably still under warranty. I did that with a monitor bought from a seccy shop for a tenner and got a brand new monitor by courier even though the manufacturer was is japan!
