Memory Lane

i can recall some things that happened ages ago but can't remember what i had for tea last night. sometimes it can be a blessing,other times its down right embaressing.just call them senior moments.

my problem is i remember too much (or so my husband says)i remember starting school and teachers names.i remember names ,faces and where i know them from.this can get you in as much trouble as forgetting things.

Mt wife has lived in Wigan all her life, and she is forever saying "see that chap - I used to change his nappies. Not seen him for 25 years" or whatever. The annoying thing is, when she says hello to him/her, it really IS that person! I can't remember ANY faces from more than about 10 years ago. Harumph!!

getwom i dont know what i was doing when elvis died and most people can recall that.they say i was at such a place or doing a certain thing but i honestly dont know what i was doing or even what date it was.i think it was not long ago because i think it was mentioned on the radio.is that the sort of thing you mean?

I can remember events from years ago but not where or what i was doing 2 weeks ago.

i don't live in wigan now either but come home as often as i can(still call it home)the last time being yesterday sunday and also was there the sunday before for a family christening.

Billy1, I know how you feel. My memory is rubbish, but Mr. Darkhorse dunt forget nowt. I recall him seeing someone on the bus and as we got off he said to the woman "I used to sit next to you in the nursery at St Andrews". Of course he was right. She didnt recall him, but he gave the right date and the name of the teacher. Wherever we go, even abroad, there is always someone he knows, whether they know him or not. The worst bit though is he expects me to remember too. He always says " Remeber so and so from such a year, such a place when we did this or that" and of course I know nothing whatsoever what he is talking about. 'Remember' is a word I am trying to teach him does not exist in my vocabulary, so I call it the 'R' word, which means 'strictly forbidden'!!

I left Wigan 25yrs ago aged 20, have lived in Sydney all that time the last 15yrs in the same house. I have worked in the prison here for over 17yrs, my problem is I remember faces, but not where from, can be a big problem if I mix them up.

I remember very little about school,apart from the odd person who i bump into on a fairly regular basis i can't remember the namess of pupils in my classes or most of the teachers names.

I can remember some of my last day at school. A few of the girls cried, some of us hugged(girls and boys) We made promises to keep in touch. The Deputy Head took us onto the school stage and drew the curtains. He used the Baby Grand piano as a table top and gave us all a small glass of champagne. The smokers amongst us joined Mr.W in a last cigarette. I can remember quite a few of the names of teachers and pupils as well.!!
