I moved back, but when I was away I missed chatting to the old folk ,missed seeing people take a plate into the chippy on a friday , there are a few quirks you only find in Wigan. Fantastic people and place. Its home.

If you dislike it so much , why find a Wigan Forum and use it as much as you do? I'm not trying to be cocky here I am just curious.
If I could choose anywhere else to live it would be the highlands, but I also love Wigan people, and its history. There are places which are shabby, same as anywhere else, but on the whole I think Wigan is fine.I missed it when I lived away.

Its an old but re-occuring subject...What do you miss about Wigan?

I have now lived in the USA for over 5 years...I don't like certain aspects of American life same as I didn't like some of the British way of life...its all down to personal choices.

But...when it gets down to your origin of birth then Wigan is very special personally and I have no doubt Oldham...Preston...Lancaster...etc are personal to someone else.

Here in the USA people are very mobil and seldom live in the same town all their lives...so the connection doesn't mean to much to them here.

When I visited Wigan in 2004 I spent some time walking round the town taking in the friendliness of the people and soaking up the atmosphere of saturday hustle and bustle shopping...enjoyed every minute...miss it all

I have carved out a good life here...great wife and living in a beautiful national forest area...see todays harbours scene...

soooo...its all personal preference
