Ridiculous comment! A fine film, wonderfully made, to even begin your thread with "Bloodbath" speaks volumes.

I worry about the way the word 'Jew' is used, most people would say 'Jewish'. Anti-Semite in our midst ??

Billy
I watched the last 20 minutes of the film last night. I had forgot that it was showing.I was just flicking through the channels when i came across it.I went to switch off but i couldnt.I think has well, because it was Easter, i felt compelled to watch.I wish now that i hadnt has i find the film too upsetting.
I got the DVD when it first came out and only watched it once and once was enough.
Did you know billy that before the film came out, apparently, the Pope watched it and gave his blessing for it to be shown.Because it shows the reality of that time in history. The film is no cover up and bears no resemblance at all to any glossy Hollywood film, ie;Spartacus,Ben Hur,etc
And yes Ian, the film is a bloodbath,it goes to show the brutality of the then Roman Empire. It shows warts and all, that part of time in history.
Has for the Mother of Jesus, having to watch what happened to her Son and there was nothing that she could do, was unbearble to watch.

i agree with you diva..but as i recall, powerfull groups in america gave gibson a rough ride over this film..you can guess which particular group were more incensed than others.yet this is the way movies and tv are moving this day and age, nothing left to the imagination anymore, ya gotta have it full on and in your face. is that a good thing??will it turn kids into non thinking caring tearaways on the streets??bad enough now i reckon.

Watch the film Emma!(Passion Of The Christ)Yeah we all know what happens at the end but its what leads up to it that is horrible. And from a Mothers perspective, no one should have to witness that happening to her child.

I saw it a while ago Billy, they reckon its closer to the truth than most films as they were pretty barbaric back then. I got to admit I have only seen it the once, it was too graphic for me to want to see twice. Its a fantastic film all the same, but one I could only see the once.

Watched this on the pictures when it first came out, there were members of the St Johns ambulance brigade sat in the front row, ready in case anybody fainted etc..., but all that said the film was fantastic, heartbreaking, thought provoking, compulsive viewing, the list is endless.

I know this sounds like I am being sarcastic....but read the book. This film is the BEST adaptation of the crucifixion of Christ ever to be made to this date. Yes, it shows the blood and the gore, the pain on His face, the breaking of the legs of the thieves to Christs left and right, the flesh being torn of His back and the ruthlessness of the roman guards, the water flowing from His side and healing the partially blind roman guard..just as the Bible depicts.....I applaud Gibson for making this film, and like you disco diva...I felt like I HAD to watch it, the little voice inside told me NOT to switch the channel

OH MY GOD i have just watched it, what an absolute disgrace absolutely shocking, i am not a religious or violent person but i do not find any entertainment in watching a man whether jesus or an odinary man beaten for 2 hours. their was absolutely no need,it was a film about torture not about his last day of christ. there is no proof that he was beaten for this long, so why make it that long, we know he was crucified, so why exploit it? i am still in shock. it should of been banned!
