since ENGLAND beat west germany 4-2 in the world cup final........can you remember what you did or where you watched it....i was 9yrs old and all my family sat round the telly it was a huge wooden box with a 10ins screen in the middle(you could actually see the valves through the slits in the wood),and it was black and white, once it was over, all the lads round drummond square all met on the field at montrose ave and kicked a ball around for hours...happy days.

And Tommy it was 40years and 2months since I arrived in Australia and I saw the replay on B&W TV but even though Australia got television later than UK I watched the match on a 22inch screen. Not wishing to question your memory but are you sure it was only a 10inch you watched, because that was the size of the first TV I saw in 1951 and that needed a magnifying glass in front of it to see it properly and the last one we had before we left UK was 19inch.

well roy,i dont like to brag, but it was 10 inch,ha ha we didnt have much then and a ten inch is what we could afford at the time, some of the valves inside were actually bigger than the screen..mind you i could have done with a magnifying glass.

Fishy, you may not have to wait another sixty years,it could happen again in 2010 and by then Tommy will got a bigger TV set. And Tommy,at your age you should know it's not the size of the cannon,it's the force of the charge;size is only for show, well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

hi roy....buying a big tv isnt a problem nowadays, and as for you fishy.i have just looked at your pictures on your profile and if thats the best you can come up with,a picture of mel gibson playing william wallace doesnt exactly sum up what scotland is famous for,i love scotland and its people its a beautiful place, but mel gibson isnt scottish and the film was inacurate as well(even though it was good to watch)i am sure you can put some better pics of real scots, rather than an actor...anyway have a look at mine..have a nice day.
