Hiya ferdy. I'm not really a fan of Bobs, he was just always there when I was growing up.
I don't remember him having a sister and he lived in Bryn road as long as I knew him.

Hi Ferdy, As Nutty says, Bob lived in Bryn Road in the 60s i used to go to the Old Hall pub in Higher Ince & Bob used to play there, I always thought that he would go a long way but i lost touch with it all, when i started courting the wife.

hi bentlegs, & nutty tart, were is bob up to now ,the last time i saw him was at the wigan pier he was as good as ever but that was a long time ago, is he still around, i have his tapes here & play them quite a lot. is the drum & monkey club still going , there used to be some good nights in there years ago?

Replied: 7th Jul 2006 at 22:37

i used to go there on a friday night for the dancing my mate used to play in the band there,i think the guy who seemed to in charge of proceedings was named rodgers i knew him from his days at brocksteds avenue when he was a teenager & the bar was run by cliff simms dad at the tine

greyhound, see mail fropm nutty tart, do you remember the dancing on friday nights at the drum & monkey, later on franko muto the car sprayer (italian guy) used to run a singles night there on a thursday but i was not allowed to go to that night!! bet nutty tart dos·nt remember that,

Replied: 8th Jul 2006 at 10:13

I'm not sure who the Rodgers bloke would be, but I think Cliff Simms dad would be Len and his wife Agnes?????
I wouldn't be old enough to go to the single night ferdy, but I certainly remember Franco Muto, he nearly ran me over in his Zephyr one day ha-ha

Replied: 8th Jul 2006 at 21:40

nutty tart is·nt it a coincidence that franko muto ened up using the drum &monkey old lounge as his spray shop when it was still in the form of the shed
your right re len simm & wife agnes he had two sons cliff being the younger, for the moment i can·t recall the eldest sons name but i knew hin quite well at the time perhaps you can jog my memory

Ferdy & Nutty, Len Rodgers came from Brocstedes he had a brother Jimmy as well but i think it would have been Len who was running things,

hi bentlegs,if your son is going to stay at clan forcat he will be in the area known as los delfines which is renowed for it·s bars pubs & restaurants etc it is situated at the other end the island to where i live, & is quite a lively part of the island so he should have a good holiday there the nearest town is cituadella which at one time was the capital of menorca before the brits handed it over to mahon during the constant battles of the past with the spanish & the french

bentlegs, the admaralty is known here as the collingwood apparentely colligwood was the surgeon attached to lord nelson during his campagne ballles at sea & nelson apparently rewarded collingwood with a very large villa overlooking the harbour of mahon so that he could be reay to sail with nelson at a moments notice when sailing into battle hence the two hotel names ie the admaralty & the collingwood if you stayed there you would see all the artifax related to lord nelson it must have been very interesting for you staying there it is about 10mins from my place & the trotting track is still operating every saturday evening, you did well to win 300€ there

Ferdy, I noticed on Friday that they have put a Digger on the land where Potters shop used to be, Looks like they are going to build a couple of houses, It's time they did some thing with land where the Britania stood, It's an eyesore, Some money wants spending on Bryn instead of everything going to Wigan,

hi bentlegs, i am surrprised that potters is still standing i aggree it is a eyesore, the britania land is due to have flats built on it i think ainscoughs bought the site, what has happened to H L GORNERS garage when i last saw it it was a thriving bussiness full of top of the range mercedes cars & the staff car park was situated on the edge of whittledge green.the workshops were state of the art shops with state of the art prices to match.
