That's good but I read 10% yesterday

It is 10%, but how do you prove it, are you at checkout with a queue behind you, whilst you explain to the checkout person, that yoo are over 60, and you want your 10% off, and then you produce your ID for proof of age.

I would pay the 10% rather than go through such a humiliating experience

Whoops As far as I'm aware on line shopping has no way of knowing if you are 60 or disabled.

TTS. I agree that it's probably a pain to have to produce proof that you're over 60 but why would it be humiliating to accept a 10% offer off your bill. Those who have a limited budget would certainly be glad of it.
I have bus pass and I paid the extra £10 to use the trains and trams. I certainly do not feel humiliated when I have to produce my proof of entitlement to the offer.

Folk are used to bus passes, and there are all sorts of different saver tickets, so a lot of people just show a pass, or a valid ticket to the bus driver, but I would feel pot having to show proof of being over 60 in a supermarket.

Okay. If that's the way you feel personally. But it would not bother me one little bit. I could show my bus pass. Having said that I really don't know how the ID thing would work. Not everyone over sixty has one, mostly because you can't get a bus pass unless you are retirement age which isn't 60 anymore.

I wouldn't mind showing my driving licence. But I don't often go to Iceland and, if I do, I don't spend enough there to make it worthwhile.

My advice to anybody thinking of going to Iceland on a Tuesday, in order to claim their 10% discount for being over sixty, would be to go elsewhere and save more than 10%!

I must be a spring chicken on here as I'm not old enough. As much as i like Iceland and the big place next to B&M I agree with Tonker - Go elsewhere and save a lot more than 10% without having prove you're older than other folk.

I haven't got a bus pass, but maybe it is just me, and I am being oversensitive about it

Tonker has a good point though, Iceland and that Food Warehouse, can be a rather pricey.

1st Sept 2022

To qualify for the £30 voucher, you must be of state pension age, live independently (but not necessarily alone) or with a carer, and rely solely on your state pension or other benefits for food and essentials. You can get more than one voucher per household, for example, if you're in a couple.

To apply, call the free 'Cheer hotline' on 0800 098 7877 (9am - 5pm, Mon - Fri). If you use the call back function you should receive a return call by the end of the day.

Your voucher will arrive by post within 7 days.

Deadline is Friday 16th Sept, but if you qualify, apply NOW as they're going quick!

Good point, Whups.

Also, though pensioners in Greater Manchester might be eligible for the Rothesay voucher, Wigan’s store doesn’t seem to accept them.

(One of the nearest store that does accept them is Bolton.)

If you go to Tesco and have a club card you can get certain items at a reduced price ie= 4 cans of pop should be £2 but with your club card £1 .
Asda sell Heinz soup for £1.40 a tin but if you buy 5 tins you can have them for £5 why cannot each tin be £1
Like they say with Iceland 10% discount if you are a pensioner why not 10% for every one

I'm told that Iceland is expensive, so the 20% off for over 60s will be very welcome!!!

They did win the Cod War, they told the Americans, that if we the British fired on, sank, or did anything nasty to their gun boats, then Iceland would pull out of NATO, and order the American bases in Iceland to vacate, and that they would let the Soviets use the bases instead, so the Americans said to us "let them have the bloody fish"

Ena they didnt... I was there.... the dodgy politicians made a deal eventually.... when the icelandic boats saw the Tugs Rollicker and Robust they ran a mile... the tugs would have sunk them.

The huge list of vessels requiring dockyard repairs (both Iceland's, RN, and trawlers) is very alarming if they had "ran a mile"

You are not suggesting the British boats were bumping into each other are you? (55 Ramming reports in 3rd Cod war)

I don't mean that the Cod Wars were lost in a military sense, I know that the Royal Navy could have blown those Icelandic Gunboats to kingdom come.
