Ofgem con email.??
Just received an email from Ofgem ( allegedly) offering free money rebates on energy bills and council tax . My anti virus site stopped me in my tracks saying they couldn't get a secure link and to basically not touch this email with an extended bargepole. Anyone else had one.?
Just shows the importance of a good security system on your computer or lap top.

Why work when you can live on benefits and have a part time job fiddling others on a computer?

Binning OFGEM maybe is a good idea.
I can't see it, because it is behind a paywall, but Martin Lewis has an article in 'The Times', wherein he asserts that, "OFGEM has sold the consumer down the river"!

Dear subscriber,
Action Fraud has received 752 reports in four days relating to fake emails purporting to be from Ofgem. The emails state that the recipient is eligible for a rebate as a result of a newly announced government scheme. The links in the emails lead to genuine-looking websites that are designed to steal your personal and financial information.

How many times do people have to be told that companies do not contact you by email or telephone asking you to submit your bank details to get a financial reward of what is in reality, non existent money.

I rarely get any Spam, but decided to check mine last night, and I got this little beauty, that came with an attachment. There's no "Dear Mrs .....", English composition is bad, no signature, and it was sent at 03.38.44. They must think everybody is stupid!

I got one yesterday from The Welfare Team at Electricity North West?
Apparently my details have been updated on the free Electricity North West. Priority Services Register. And very kindly offered a link for some useful information.

Boom Industry in our country now.
Live on the benefit system or be even in a job and have a second income fleecing others with scam emails.
The sad thing is that many are falling for it!

Just looked up Electricity NorthWest. Apparently they are a genuine company but I'm not sure if the message was so. Deleted to be on the safe side anyway.

Jathbee,I think it used to be Norweb and you just may have been nominated for priority services by a family member. You are able to nominate up to six people for this service about breakdowns and repair assistance etc.

Norweb became Eon and that is now called Eon Next. It must cost millions to rebrand and the good old customers pay for it with higher bills

peter p ,I think Electricity North West run the network and Eon is just a supplier .Repairs to the network will be conducted by ENW.
