HYBRID ????

I WAS wondering if any member's of Wigan World have a HYBRID Motor Car ?? I AM deeply interested in getting my next new car and am toying with the idea of HYBRID or Full Electric being a bit of a numpty what is Hybrid ? How does it function ie on Petrol etc Electric ok i get it but it's this other one that's buggin me , i would be grateful for any comments ..

[Don't get an electric as if everybody gets one I will end up having to pay road tax and it will be the end of free electric at supermarkets

If you get an Hybrid you may get your catalytic converter pinched.

A hybrid is a bit like a hermaphrodite human being.

With a hybrid car you have a conventional car plus an electric motor, battery and control gear.An expensive duplication. If you want to go electric buy an electric car.

GB, they can be stolen in minutes, they are stolen for the expensive metal, and Hybrids have the most of this metal. I wouldn,t buy electric or hybrid, but if I did it would be electric.

Gb we have a car which as a small battery under the passenger seat .This is a mild hybrid. Whilst driving the petrol engine runs on either 4 cylinders or 2 cylinders it changes itself. It has what they call coasting mode also were the engine switches off and it runs on the battery, Ok on the level or down hill. Our next car will have a eco boost engine with a 48 volt battery which will boost the turbo petrol if you need a quick boost to say overtake quicker Every time you brake energy is taken from the braking and helps recharge the battery If you are thinking of getting a hybrid car then contact Toyota, All of their cars are hybrid and have been for a few years so they can answer most questions about their cars

Toyota have just introduced the first of a range of battery electric cars, the BZ series.

I've had a hybrid for a couple of months.....65 mpg and capable on the motorway......it'll do for me..

My daughter has a hybrid and is currently in the process of buying a full electric car which has required the installation of a charging point.
She has nothing but praise for the hybrid and considers the all electric an even better option.

If I could have had electric prior to retiring, when my annual mileage exceeded 30,000, I guess the option would have been attractive.

But, that was more than two decades ago. (Models then available had too restricted range)

In retirement, my annual mileage has been but one or two thousand, and CONSIDERABLY less during Covid restrictions.

I cannot foresee any opportunity whereby savings in fuel cost would justify the capital outlay now. Do not know how many years of driving lie in front of me, but it can't be a very great number.

broady,I think she said it was about 230 miles approx on a full charge on the electric.She was quoted that.

I did read some time ago the method of a quick battery change instead of charging. It was a news item today, it being trialed in Norway, with a Chinese company. It involved driving into a reception area where the battery was swapped in minutes.
