Wholesale gas prices.

Started by: gaffer (7951)

There is a glut of LNG in the UK following a rise in ship deliveries of LNG bound for the European mainland. However, there is insufficient pipe line capacity to transfer the volume of gas involved . The wholesale price of gas for next day delivery is 40p a therm in the UK and 200p in Europe.
The peak price of gas last year was 500p a therm.

I know that the gas we are paying for now, was bought when gas prices were high, and I expected a drop when gas started coming through in the supply chain from alternative sources, other than Russia, so with a drop like that, then surely in this country at least, prices should drop in the coming months.
I would presume that the European countries with port facilities, will be building new LNG terminals, and LNG re gasification plants, and I would also presume that the network of pipelines in Europe, which pipe Russian gas all over the continent, can be retasked to carry gas from new re gasification plants on the coast, to the present gas destination countries.
