Another tale of woe... I recently had my MOT with the practice nurse... All oki koki.... Gave me a form to arrange a blood test... Six times I rang the number to obtain a time/place for the test... Mon.. You are in position 56.
Tues position 75
Wed...got to number 7 after hanging on for 40 minutes then cut off!
Thurs 8am as soon as lines open.... No 36...waited 20 mins... Got to no. 27 then cut off... Give up for the week... Today 7.55am (lines open 8am)...got in the system..yahoo...position no. 7......35mins later my call was eventually answered and first available slot taken... FRIDAY 22ND APRIL... has anybody suffered similar. ?

We book ours online. I made an appointments weeks ago to go next Tuesday when I get home. We used to do walk ins prior to Covid.

did they not give you a bag of documents and send you to the Linacre centre?

Blood tests at the Linacre are by appointment only and have been for the last 2 years.

I went there a few weeks ago from the doctors, took a number out of the machine, then went in gave them a bag from the doctors and had the blood test done within 10 mins of walking in.

well, they said to come back next week so I said can I not get it done today, they said the only way was to go to the Linacre centre.

BB..I rang them Wednesday ..in the queue no.60..I put phone down,tried again Thursday in the queue..
no 72..I put phone down..waited until Saturday,rand and got through straight away..going for test tomorrow.

I went to see the practice nurse a few weeks ago.She said "do you drink"
i said " i'll have a can if you have one in the drawer,She just laughed.

If you can get a form from your doc referring you to suite one at the linacre you are usually in and out in 15 mins.

All I can tell you is that I had to miss my blood test in 20-20 as I was looking after my hubby who was very ill..my GP. rang last week and said to go to Boston House to pick up a blood testing form,I rang the number on the form and the rest is history..I don't recall it saying anywhere that there's no Saturday visits.

I've got into the habit of emailing askmygp, and I get a reply pretty quickly (within the hour) but, if I need to phone, I make a point of leaving it as late in the day as I can, usually 10/15 minutes before they close as it's less busy then, and I'm usually second in the queue.

You can no longer get an appointment like it used to be because of the increased number of people now registered with surgeries as a result of the ever increasing number of people being allowed into the country.

Do the politicians never think that immigrants, economic migrants, refugees or whatever you want to call them, will need medical and dental treatment, operations etc provided by the HNS.

All adding to the burden of taxation and NI contributions for those who work for a living to pay for those who do not!

And a situation now heading for a system like in the USA with free treatment provided to a basic level for those on Social Security and private medical schemes like BUPA etc for those in employment.

I rang today for a blood test and I was number 93 in the queue. But they do give you an option of a call back which I accepted rather than wait in the queue.
True to form they rang me back and booked me in at a day and time of my own choice. They even asked me where I wanted to have the appointment

I spent about a minute on the phone and left a message when prompted. And a nice chap rang me up and he said where do you want to have your test and what time is best for you and I'll see if I can fit you in, and he did

Followed the instructions from the phone etc... Press 5 and we will call you back... Didn't happen...

Certain it didn't say "high five" and we'll call you back... You put the phone down and it carried on "when we want to"?

I have an M.O.T. evert 6 months....I have to take a sample of urine and the nurse takes my blood in the surgery. I then make an appointment to go back in about 2 weeks to see the results......A good system that's been in operation for years.
