That's a bummer! I only buy free range where the hens have access to outdoors - hope it gets sorted soon, but guess safety has to come first and not only for us but those poor birds as well.

Last year, I dug up the most enormous egg in the garden.

It was about four times larger than the usual hen's egg.

I was not able to eat it, as spade had smashed it, but it seemingly was still fresh. ie no bad smell.

For quite some time, it had me puzzled: what on earth lays eggs like that, and would bury them in a garden in the city?

Having pursued some enquiries, I concluded that it must be a goose egg, stolen by a fox, and buried in my garden. It appears that foxes do that.

Kinda confirmed when someone loaned me a proximity activated IR camera, and I was able to see the fox return and search and dig fruitlessly for its stash.

forcing someone to quit is what Terry did to ray, attacked him all the time and came out with nasty/personal comments driving him away.

I for one are hoping ray, and others, come back on now the site bully is gone..........for now anyway.

Forgive me NJ but you obviously hadn't noticed.
Terry being the vindictive induvial he is was doing his best to get 4 people banned from or to leave this forum. In fact he demanded it on several occasions. He has tried the same thing before and doubt at some point in the future he will return under yet another name and attempt to pick up where he left off........Its what he does and he has been doing it for years. The unfortunate thing is he is a compulsive liar who craves attention and aggression. He takes people in on the way and manipulates them with his charms and lies and they fall for it......... much like you did.

Now look where we are.........A new chapter begins....... Terry has gone and the 4 of us are still here. What can I say?........I suggest you try to learn to live with the fact and move on

Morrisons have over the last few weeks been selling "free range eggs" no signs to say they are "barn eggs" Most of the bird flu restrictions have now been lifted so you can now let your birds outside.

So marigold petals added to get more yellow in the yolk and capsaicin (from sweet/Chilli peppers) to get more orange.

An egg farmer I once knew had produce that was widely sought and commanded a premium. He acquired meat waste which he put out for the blowflies. Periodically, a shaker violently agitated the mesh screen upon which they sat. The hens swarmed to eat the maggots which fell from the meat.

It really made the premises stink though.
