Thanks, Perkin, that’s an interesting link.

I couldn’t think where the pub & street are - now I know one’s on & one’s off Poolstock Lane.

I think the cotton mill at the end of Tipping St was owned by Mr Tipping, who lived at Bold Hall. The old maps refer to the mill as Poolstock Mill, but we called it Clifton Mill.
Not sure about the history of the Tipping pub, but the pub about 200 metres from the Tippings is called the BOLD HOTEL.

And it must be remembered that in those days, Warrington Road did not exist, Poolstock Lane and Poolstock, was the be main road into Wigan.

Good question, it was not there in 1847, but it was there by 1885

Old roads follow the contours of the land, hence that is why Poolstock Lane winds a lot, Warrington Road is a much straighter road, because by the time it was built, instead of roads following the contour of the land, the land was made to follow the contour of the road

Oh right I see, and I don't know any Alan who does karaoke, but so he really is a Little Shit.
Well if he did that, and that is a Shithouse of a trick to do, he deserves to be called Little Shit.
