Insulate Britain protests

Started by: oldswint (33)

I am totally disgusted with the Insulate Britain protesters at the M25, Dover and other sites as their actions of disrupting traffic is not only illegal but positively dangerous. However I am more concerned that our Police force does not take much stronger and instant action. As a country we have suffered the worst calamity for decades and we need everyone to pull together with that old bulldog war time spirit to help recovery. What do we get but these louts who have one aim in life to destroy this country. I have written to the Home Secretary registering my protest at the lack of enforcement of the law although I know it could be a lost cause.

Owdswint

I know how angry it makes you feel to watch that, especially earlier on in the week when the police closed the motorway, to allow the protesters to sit down and close the motorway, however it turned out that is not exactly what happened, and I am sure it will be the same in Dover, in that the police explained that about four policeman arrived on the scene at the motorway, just has about 20 - 30 of the protesters were preparing to run into the motorway to stop the traffic, and if that had happened and vehicles had struck the protesters, then it might not have been just the protesters which got hurt or killed, but swerving traffic on the motorway could have caused a pile up, and the carnage which followed could have resulted in the deaths of innocent motorists.
Four policemen could not hold back 30 nut cases, so in order to stop anyone getting hurt they stopped the traffic on the motorway, the nutters sat down on the motorway, and the police arranged for back up in numbers to come and arrest the nutters, which they did do.

Very very annoying, but I think the police did the right thing, and in Dover today they arrested the nut cases who stopped the traffic there.

I have just been reading that lorry drivers are being fined by their bosses for being late on their deliveries because of these selfish yobs. I know these couriers and drivers are on time limits and the HGVs can only drive for certain hours, these barstewards should be forced to pay thes fines for people going about their lawful business.

They should be sent to prison for a considerable time, and I mean all of these anarchist types, they are a menace to society.

TTS: that is exactly what they are, anarchists. They used to be shot or hanged, but if the government isn't careful these people are setting precedents which will spread and the lily livered Judges will find it difficult to punish anyone.

Having started this topic I received a prompt response from the Home Secretary, Rt Hon Priti Patel, although as I expected it mainly told me what was already common knowledge. I am an 'owd codger' now and not conversant with social media, facebook etc., but if I was I would start an online petition calling on the government to instruct the Police to enforce the interim injunction which is in place. If these anarchists have nothing better to do with their time other than to sit on our motorways then a couple of years in the nick will at least keep them off our roads instead of holding up the traffic causing gross inconvenience to all and slowing down our economic recovery.

The law is an ass - still true in this day and age.

Don't put all the blame on the Police as they can only enforce the current laws which are inadequate.

It is up to us to put pressure on politicians to make new laws to fit the crime and stop these kind of protests.

The guy who was interviewed had better watch his back now. He'll be well known in his own town and it wouldn't surprise me if he received a bit of vengeance from someone.
