Wigan Council Road Closure's ?????

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

I live on Carr Lane ,Hawkley Hall and a couple of weeks back the council sent the resident's a letter informing us of Road Closure in COLBY and FULLBECK AVE . Work will commence on Tuesday 13th July 2021 ok no problems ,,,,,I DON'T THINK !!!!! When a major route is going to be closed for some 6/7 days,, one would think that adequate sign's would be put up to inform driver's whom do not live in the area are well informed of the said closure ..... But oh no not this shower who are in charge ,, There is NOT one sign from the start of CARR LANE advising you that the said roads are closed ,so what has been occurirng since Tuesday the huge number vehicles that have come all the way up the lane to where the closed road is are met by a worker who's job all week has been to tell they have to round and find another route ,, and there's the rub there are NO signs informing them of an alternate route .... IS it just me or is there someone who works for the highway dept to tell them where to put up signs ??????? It's been laughable seeing all these driver doing a three point turn and some even grumbling at the worker who was denying them access ,,,,just paid monthly rates and again i ask what are they doing with my cash ????? I hear ya GB and see your point but, If you put a sign up saying road closed, 99.99% of motorists, drive by and not take a blind bit of notice untill, that blokes there telling them , THE ROAD IS CLOSE

I've seen this happen and actually filmed cars going past 3 or 4 signs saying " road closed" and pizz past it,

Trouble is that when the road has been closed and repaired they leave the sign in position for days after....
