So public transport managed by city mayors and airlines are going to insist on masks being worn.No mention of social distancing.Fill your seats up.

I started wearing masks in shops before it became compulsory in July last year, and I will be wearing masks after the 19th of July and for the foreseeable future

The trouble with masks especially those blue disposable ones is that there are gaps on either side when worn so particles can just easily escape. I've always been sceptical that wearing a thin piece of cloth can help prevent the spreading of a virus as particles are that small.

These same mayors wanted restrictions lifting when they were locked down.Is it a coincidence that Labour in the house are urging caution when they wanted them lifting early.Politicians,Pfff

True tonker. People wear them because they don't like wearing the masks but yes they are even more useless. The staff of WH Smith got stopped from wearing them. I think it's just a big money making sham.

Those blue disposable masks can only help, they stop folk sneezing in your face, and folk who have the virus sneezing and coughing it over other people, or it cuts that down a lot.

Only the FFP2 and N95 masks can keep airborne virus out, and those masks are supposed to be fitted to your face, they come in different face shapes and sizes, and doctors and nurses are fitted with a specific size and shape of mask to fit their faces, and that is to ensure a airtight seal around the nose and mouth

TTS the amount of people I see wearing masks incorrectly. People with them below their nose, under their chin and the latest trend seems to be with it hanging off one ear. I think they are unhygienic too as people are always touching them, pulling them down onto a dirty beard and knowing some folk they probably wear the same mask for days.

As for sneezing well I wouldn't want be walking around with a snotty mask on after I sneezed. If that was me I'd hurry and take the mask off, use a tissue then throw the tissue in the bin.

Well those masks are supposed to be disposable, and I think the recommendation is that they should be changed every two hours, and then thrown away.

TTS I suppose it's just personal choice on what people do. I'll still be doing my bit with the social distancing when I can and hand washing regularly.

The message I was trying to get across is that these organisations will pick and choose which freedoms they will apply.Masks will not cost them money but social distancing,ergo empty seats wii.

We have been maskless for a couple of weeks. I would say 65% of people still wear them. What I still don’t understand is why people driving cars alone still wear them. Some may still be wearing them because we are getting smoke from the fires in BC which is hundreds of miles away.

What i would like to ask all you on here who have quite rightly or not have said you are still going to carry on wearing mask's fine. But just ask yourselves when and if these place's such as supermarkets/ train/bus's if they turn round and say you must wear a mask ,then i put it to you in a fortnight or so time the football season is due to start, and my question is are you telling me that for example 75,000 at old trafford will be forced into wearing mask's ??? I think not so again i pose the question which is ,WHAT'S THE POINT OF MASK WEARING when alll these division's season kick off i am presuming mask's will go out of the window , so there fore WHAT IS THE POINT OF WEARING MASK'S ,in a shop, on a bus ,on a tram/train ??????? SO i think we should have leadership from the very top as to what we ought to do not this hotch potch system , and finally the same criteria goes for people who want a holiday abroad ,make it very clear ,, JUST HAVE 2 BANDS MAKE IT RATHER RED .... Health is more important than football so although I have renewed our season tickets we will go to the first game and see if we feel comfortable with the situation, if we don't then we won't go until we do. Wasted money? Sure, but as I said, health is more important. I for one will be wearing a mask on the terraces but I fear I will be in a minority. They will actually come in handy when the weather gets cold!

I'm not so much concerned about the seating areas but the concourse which we need to pass through on the way to our seats or use the bar/toilets etc.

Gave myself a home covid test today and clear, and the mask will be worn on a regular basis....

I think it's very foolish to go without a mask in crowded places. I for one will continue to wear mine until such time as cases fall to the levels we saw last summer.

Broady when they wear a mask alone in a car it's because they suffer from carowner virus.

I don't care what anybody says..I will continue wearing mine for as long as it takes..I've had the covid and believe me it isn't nice and neither is the long covid.

How long is it going to take though momac? Like the scientists say we have to learn to live with the virus.

because it,s airborne we cant get rid of it anyway so masks are no good . i,m 1 of the "at risk "catagories & hav,nt been on public transport for more than a year & toed the line on everything but the sooner i get rid of my face mask the better because i cant breathe with it on.

Went to the chemist yesterday every one who came in wore a mask.Then went to Asda and most of the customers also wore masks

so what. it,s now a personal choice .

I am more generally concerned about the spread of this co-vid from all those stinking bloody immigrants who have flooded our shores this week-end totalling almost 2,000 and the thing that worries a vast number of the aliens buggered off before the police came ,so again i ask what checks have those scum-bags had none i bet ,but will be mixing amongst us ,it's just not on WHY THE HELL couldn't the border patrol vessel hook them up and tow them back to FRANCE ????????? In the meantime I read the Royal Navy are flexing their muscles in a confrontation with the Chinese ( of all people) in the South China Sea. Maybe they would be better deployed in the English Channel!!!

Making mask have got a few people off the dole and in to employment that's the good thing ..

I'm totally with Scorpion about masks. I work and live in a reet cooped up environment and have never had covid. I've mixed socially at work closely with folk for months now with people routinely tested positive the next day and isolated. Months later - today, People are similarly tested and are still put into isolation as i type this now. I've had umpteen lateral flow tests and PCR tests twice weekly for months, all negative. My 'masks' are nothing more than cut outs from old tee shirts. If you read Scorpion's link, masks are just a 'comfort blanket'.

First Mate,I have spent months and months living and working on a ship with a mere piece of tee shirt as a 'mask'. I have never had covid. I was patted on the back by the chap that brought it onboard when i had zero jabs and zero mask. Try reading online scientifically about the alleged effectiveness of 'masks'. It is very dubious and scientifically doubtful. I am telling you my experience and it is open to all NHS workers also as you ask. These are facts. thank you.

Your right Pewfall just comfort blankets. When people wear them they give them a sense of security that's all. Particles are minute to the naked eye so they could easily go into your eyes too. Lets hope we don't see people walking round with eye masks next.

Ave bin't Asda today, and I felt a bit of 'trepidation'

Because some bugger had told me that it had been on fire, and going back to the 1970s 80s and 90s Asda used to regularly burn down, and it would rise from the ashes like a Phoenix, and the new store would be bigger and better

But it was still there this morning, and I noticed that as regards masks, it just looked like everyone who was wearing a mask last week, is still wearing one this week, customers and staff, I only spotted two young women who weren't wearing masks.
