For once i have to back our PM Boris Johnson on his stance on cutting aid to these foreign countries. The cut amounts to savings of £ 4 billion pounds ,which at this juncture in time,, and all that we have gone and are still going through with this horrid co-vid is vital for our economy. You hear and read all these do gooder's wanting more and more ,well i for one say it's high time we looked after ourselves ,after all the EU is still battling with us . And as for what i saw in the Sudan the money and food we send is being stolen by the so-called army of pirates ,so very little aid gets given to were it's supposed to go to ... Then we see sir keir Starmer saying """"" This is not the vision of a global Britain, he wants see """" My response to Keir is we need to get our own house in order first , for far too many hundreds' of years we have been these other countries bread basket. If they sort their own countries out then they would not want to flood into europe and our country so it's time to call time on them all and just say enough is enough ..... GB

Too many sat on their lazy bone idle backsides with outstretched arms. Stop having all those sprogs you can't afford in the first place.... Send condoms and birth control pills first to get the numbers down to a manageable level... THEN.. Think about aid... But don't send it to their bent governments.

How many of our politicians are on the board of overseas charities and voted against the cut because it could effect the money going into their pockets We have all read the stories about money being wasted on a pop group and even going to the richest countries like China. ALL the overseas funding should be stopped and spent in this country.Its time some of these corrupt countries started looking after their own

One reason so many children are born in corrupt and impoverished countries is because there is no welfare system. Parents of these children will eventually need to depend on them in old age. Think about this country well before the benefits system came into being.

I think it is a United Nations agreement from 50 odd years ago? Its not only the Uk I think there are a lot more other countries involved.

Care workers here in the UK have had a raw deal for ages. A couple of £ billion transferred to the care system from the overseas aid budget each year would give them better pay and conditions and provide a good service to more of our deserving pensioners who currently struggle through each day without assistance.

Every resident in the UK pays tax in some form and this money should stay in the UK.If people want to donate to other countries that's ok with me,it is their choice.Nearly seventy years ago as a child I remember our school and church collecting money for some charity,I think it was Oxfam,but after all these years there is still the same problem.Where has all the billions and billions of pounds gone?I think we all know the answer.Money is not the answer.

Its a tory plot to claw the billions (150 plus billion and still rising!) back from leaving the European Union. Now that is a waste of British taxpayers money.

It would have very little impact financially on most people but you cannot keep throwing money at a dead duck there must be other ways,it has gone on too long.

Ecclestone paid his tax on earnings normally. The back tax referred to an overseas trust fund the ownership of which was disputed. If he owned it he would have to pay tax on money earned from investments held by the trust. If it was owned by a family member based overseas there would be no liability for UK tax. It sounds like his advisers didn’t brief him fully or made a mistake in drawing up the trust deed.

Invariably there is no yes or no answer to complex tax disputes. In the case of Bernie Ecclestone’ s overseas trust deed it was originally under the control of his ex wife who was based in the same country where the trust deed was lodged. In that case there would not have been any liability for uk tax

If you intend paying tax ( not avoiding it ) and doing everything above board a simple phone call to HMRC or your local tax office will offer advice and believe it or not they wont charge you 10 Grand per hour

It is called market demand. They aren't after family credit or similar. They are looking for legal ways to save figures we can't write. If there are 18,000 pages there must be a loophole. Quite often the schemes fail and they have to pay up as was the case with Bernie whatever. Once the case has been to the highest appeal court I don't think HMRC will sit back waiting for payment. They will pursue.

If council tax is being paid on the property I cant see how anyone could claim otherwise!!!

I asked if all these firms took there business out of the country what would happen , no one answered.....well, in my opinion unemployment would rocket, tax from the ex-workforce would diminish, this would cost a fortune in benefits and rents wouldn't be paid causing evictions and a rise in homelessness ..... I don't like the way these big firms get away with not paying what we think is their fare share of tax, but this country and it's population would be a lot worse off if they all buggered off....btw, I am retired and still pay income tax....
