Analyse this then .....

........ This morning, me and my wife went to our Westhoughton shop. The area seemed quite busy and there wasn't much parking space.
We went to the far end of the car park behind Aldi, found a space, and parked up.
At the side of where I'd parked was an Aldi shopping trolley.
I noticed that tha Aldi shopping trolley still had a £1 coin still in it.
So, I walked to the trolley and started topush it towards Aldi entrance, where the trolleys are parked.
"What are you doing"? exclaimed my wife.
"I'm taking this trolley back, as there's a £1 coin left in it"!, I answered.
To which, my wife said, "You bloody scav."!

My question is, am I a scav.? or did I do the correct thing?
What would YOU have done in that situation?

I wouldn't doo that, because I would be shamed if someone was watching me, but I have seen something similar, when this chap took a trolley back for a pound, and this owd fella who was watching him, wound his window down, and said to this chap who had got the pound, and said

"HERE, if you are that short of a pound have another one"

At that he chucked two 50 pence pieces at the bloke.

He had walked about half a mile from the other end of the supermarket car park to get that pound, and left his wife waiting for him, and it took him about five minutes, to get that pound, and get back to his car.

When Morrisons was open in galleries I moved trollies off car parks everyday, people couldn't be bothered taking them back I put monies into charity boxes.

I really do not find it a happy occasion to lend any kind of support to tonker, but as I'm regarded as a very fair person and a person to give a genuine opinion, I have to say that you aren't a 'scav'. As the idiomatic expression advises us: A fool and his money are easily parted. After all, a pound is a pound! If you hadn't collected it, the next person would have.
Wait until your wife needs a pound coin for a shopping trolley, then pull that particular coin from your pocket and offer it to her with your chosen words.

I have pushed trollies back to supermarkets even when they have no coin slot. Just because some lazy sod leaves a trolley doesn't mean we all have to be lazy!

I always put mine back in place but sometimes I think “ If everybody does that then sooner or later someone will be out of a job”

I know someone who used to do a little trick with the trollies at wigan morrisons. He used to poke a piece of metal into the slot were you put the £1 so he didn't have to use one. Then when he'd finished his shopping sometimes someone would ask him for his trolley and give him the pound, not knowing that there wasn't a pound in the coin slot.

I'm not sure I believe him though as surely he would of got caught eventually. Bloody hard faced though.

Once on the Gerard centre when the Coop was there and walking back to the car with the trolley a lad said I will take the trolley back if you want. I said give me a pound and he can have the empty trolley he walked away without the trolley. If he thought I was going to chase him around the car park for the pound in the slot he was mistaken

I learned me lesson once, and it was at the Lidle supermarket in Wigan on Warrington Lane, on the site of the old Foundry Pub, and Pepper Mill.

I was walking to the trolley park to get a trolley, and a woman was taking her trolley back, so I offered her me quid, so she could be on her way back to her car, and I could be on me way into the supermarket, so she took my pound and gave me the trolley.

After the shop and after loading it into my car I took the trolley back, and that was when I found it that the evil, lousy, nasty, shithouse cow of a woman had conned me out of a quid, cos in the trolley there was one of those tokens, I was bloody fuming, and I would have strangled her if I could have found her, I was livid, but I could not remember what she looked like

T. T. S. Now that tickled me ... The only reason for pound coins/tokens is to stop them ending up in the duggy and the like.

GB the money slots for the £1 coin was to get you to take your trolley back to a given point and then the trolleys could be secured, Now with tokens or nothing being used trolleys end up everywhereSainsburys trolleys end up at the side of B&M's. When we shop we use a clip on trolley at the front of the wheelchair but the scrots normaly pinch these trolleys, There are normaly 3-4 clip on trolleys and hundreds of other trolleys but the clip on ones go missing

It reminded me of the TV ad where the little girl takes the trolley back and gets the quid. She's chuffed to bits until she gets in the car and dad says
"Have you got that pound love?"

TTS a £1 coin is legal tender but with the covid rules shops can refuse to take cash if they want to do so. there are plenty of shops which will take cash ONLY because they don't have card facilities.

TT I have seen very basic tokens offered for just a few pence, though most seem to range from 34p to a couple of quid, depending on features: ornate, key ring fob, fashion icon etc.

I don't think it is the financial loss which is annoying, it is more about the audacity of the woman. So, I am quite sure that TTS was fuming at being, what can only be called, "conned"
I have been in a similar situation, where a person offered me a pound for the trolley I was returning. When I have used a token, I have always told the person that there is a token in the trolley and not a one pound coin.
By the way, I have received a few tokens as promotional gifts. So, possibly, the woman regularly receives tokens as promotional gifts or she works somewhere were she can "pocket" them.
