Back to the pub.
Just got back from having a spot of lunch in Tom & Jerry's in Ashton. Not to packed and Sun on the beer garden but a long way from normal?

Wetherspoon's in Westhoughton had a full 'beer garden' at the rear AND about twenty people queueing at the front!
Why?
Replied: 12th Apr 2021 at 16:38
'Why'?
perhaps some folk want to enjoy themselves
Replied: 12th Apr 2021 at 16:50
They used to say to folk who spent all their time in the pub.
"ast not getten a wom go too"

Are people that desperate, Picture in the Mirror showing a couple eating a meal outside and its SNOWING
Replied: 12th Apr 2021 at 17:19
The Boars Head is rammed, Alberts in Standish is busy but not as bad as I thought it would be. One or two places not open at all. I think we'll leave it until the novelty wears off.

Correct

I'll leave all of it, especially the eating and drinking outside. Not that desperate for a drink and even less desperate to eat food that's going to be cold within a few minutes of being served with it.
As for shopping, I'll leave that for a week or so until shops are less manic and no queues.

crazy times , you snatch someone's enjoyment and some will adjust and others will not adapt as easily, We have all reached a bend in our lives, some will crash , some will slow down and negotiate it, others never made it this far ,

Well put Tom

I can't understand the desperation of the people who where waiting for the clock to tick past midnight to drink their first pint outside in freezing conditions. Madness.

I think a lot of them do it to take a picture of themselves so they can put it on social media and become instant overnight"stars".
Brainless duckheads!

Heard this Morning the police were called to the Boars Head at 21:00 ( ish ) to reports of fighting. Apparently it was shut down. Not good, day 1 and its kicked off already. As I said earlier, we'll wait until the novelty has worn off.

Plenty people have friends they have known for years simply from going in the pub. I know loads of folk through meeting in pubs and clubs in the past and this friendship as lasted. Not all people go to the pub just to consume ale!

“ Not all people go to the pub just to consume ale” Glory be. We learn something every day.
Replied: 14th Apr 2021 at 18:21
I really though that was the prime function of a pub.

Stella lager must think this is the good old USA. They are advertising buy a drink and give the bar staff a ONE POUND tipAle is dear enough without being expected to give a £1 tip. People tip at thier discetion in the main in this country.
Replied: 15th Apr 2021 at 10:47
Stella are giving the £1 tip, not the customer.
Replied: 15th Apr 2021 at 10:54
Angelwood I have read about the brewery giving up to £1/2 million pounds to pubs that have signed up but the advert looks like it is the customer who is putting the tip into a jar not the bar person
