schools

In the news AGAIN pupil put into isolation because his hair was too short.Another kept off school because he had the wrong shoes We hear of a bill being debated over changing the rules about school uniforms so parents can buy from the supermarkets etc instead of paying top money at certain shops. I thought kids went to school for their education not their uniform. The proverbial spokesperson says school must maintain a certain standard.I am all for uniforms but in the time of covid a little lee way MUST be given

How do they expect someone to get a good haircut when all the barbers have been shut for months. My partner cuts mine with the dog clippers and all i can say is it's a good job the pubs are shut or i'd get a bit of stick.

No uniforms over here and hair any colour /length you want. From what I see a good standard of education and lots of extra curricular activities. I often wonder what they have in those backpacks. I don’t carry so much when I go on holiday. I wonder if they will have back problems in later life?

Broady when we went to school we had in general our own class room and lift up desk plus lockers to put our books into . Now most students swipe into school and have different rooms for every subject and have to carry every thing they need for that day

PeterP,
We had a satchel and I am almost sure we moved between classrooms especially at secondary schools. The pupils over here have their own lockers in the school that they put their own locks in.

I fully agree with uniforms because, you'd get the rich kids coming in goochie cloths and kids like I was coming in ,' hand me downs' , Uniforms create a standard that we all had to keep to, as for hair too short, in our day, we were sent home if the hair was too long ( beatle mania), oft was heard, " Tom go and get de beatlized or else !"

Well I have me hair cut short, but not with 'Dog Clippers'

That is awful, and it's not fair on't dog.

I got my clippers from Boots at Robin Park, and they are for humans, not dogs.

It reminds me of the taxi lads on Wigan Northwest Station, one of them befriended Harry Batt, and took him under his wing so to speak, he gave him clothes, and he cut his hair with 'dog clippers' and he had two big dogs, but like the lads said to him, and seriously and not messing about, they told him to disinfect the clippers, before he used them on the dogs again.
