GENDER ASSIGNMENT.

Started by: broady (inactive)

Am I the only that thinks all this is a load of rubbish? How much does it cost the hard pressed HNS per year.

I'm quite happy with the gender I was born with so I do find it hard to understand why anyone would mutilate their body in this way. I find it more disturbing that children are being offered a drug regime to halt puberty in order to make their transition easier as they become older. I suppose it's easier to criticise when I've never been in that position .

I have an open mind at the moment but, I do know that a number of those who either had the puberty blockers or the surgery went on to regret it. I also understand that the Psychiarist who was involved in the early assessments is now having doubts but feels unable to produce the evidence because of threats from the pressure groups.

THere was a court case back in Dec that says >>>> the court concluded that children under the age of 16 considering gender reassignment are unlikely to be mature enough to give informed consent to be prescribed puberty-blocking drugs, in effect curtailing medical intervention for under-16s with gender dysphoria. ALSO “It is highly unlikely that a child aged 13 or under would be competent to give consent to the administration of puberty blockers. It is doubtful that a child aged 14 or 15 could understand and weigh the long-term risks and consequences of the administration of puberty blockers.” so i don.t think you have a lot to wary about

Yes peter I remember that, the case was brought to court by a person who had actually had the pubertyblockers and he later realised that he did not in fact realise the seriousness of the decision he made.
