I agree, Heinz beans are now awful, but Branston beans must have got the recipe, because they taste like Heinz beans used too taste

More and more people turning away from heinz products.Started a few years ago with their Oxtail soup by putting carrots into it. At the time heinz said it added to the taste My view to bulk the thin soup out.

I ‘spice up’ and enrich my baked beans.
I buy ‘Heinz Snap Pots Without Added Sugar’.
Add a splash (maybe 2 tablespoons) of boiling water, a good heaped tablespoon of tomato puree, a good teaspoon (or more) of chilli powder and a good teaspoon of smoked paprika,’ La Chinata’ in the rectangular tin is the best on the market.
Stir it all together and microwave for 3 minutes, giving it a stir every minute.
Delicous on wholemeal toast or poured over a jacket potato cut in half, or as part of a ‘Full English’.
Give it a try.

The only good thing to come from Heinz is the Tomato Sauce, and even that's H.P.!

I agree with several of you. Branston's are clearly the best. Heinz beans are watered down Branston's at twice the price!

A couple of years ago I fancied some beans on toast but I'd no beans in, so I picked up a tin in Tesco, but never again.

When I opened it, it was all sauce and not enough beans, so now I buy the cheapest I can find and add a bit of tomato sauce or puree with it.

As PeterP said, the oxtail soup is dire now compared to how it was, and the carrots add nothing to it. In fact, it was the carrots (and I love carrots) that made me decide to never buy it again. Their oxtail soup used to be nice and spicy and, unfortunately, I haven't seen any other brand of oxtail, so I stick with an oxtail Cup-o-Soup by Batchelor's. Deelish poured over a meat and potato pie when in a hurry.

If I have beans, and it's not often, I have Branston's.
I'm dead finicky though, so here's my procedure ....
Cans must be stored upright for a while before opening.
When I get the can out of the cupboard, I keep it upright and never shake it about.
I carefully open with the tin-opener ..... then ...... I empty most of the sauce out of the can into the sink.
You might think I'm strange, but listen, when the can is stood, all the beans and the thick sauce sink down to the bottom and the thin watery stuff floats to the top. I get rid of it.
This makes sure I get beans with not a lot of runny sauce, just nice thick sauce. I hate runny beans!

I bought Heinz beans for many, many years.
Because of covid and shortages at the begining, my daughters got some from Aldi. They are Corale brand. Nice thick sauce. Far nicer than Heinz.
Never buy Heinz again and much cheaper too.

Me and the wife sometimes have beans on toast and I have to agree that there is too much sauce in the can and resorted to using a slotted ladle to get them out of the pan.When we have used up the last few cans will not be buying them again.

The acid of the sauce in beans don't agree with me,hernia and all that..so to counteract it I sprinkle vinegar on the beans,it's lovely..honest,if you don't believe me just try it.
